As a UX Intern at SoundCloud, you will enjoy a hybrid work environment based out of our New York office, with in-person attendance expected 2-3 times a week. When approaching user research in UX design, I start by defining the research objectives clearly. I then choose appropriate methods, such as interviews or surveys, to gather insights from users. It's essential to analyze the data thoughtfully to uncover patterns that inform design decisions and enhance user experiences. Sharing findings with the team encourages collaboration and ensures alignment.

In a past project, I identified that users struggled with navigating a product feature. I created a simplified wireframe that focused on a more streamlined interface. After conducting usability testing, I gathered feedback which proved the new design significantly improved user engagement and satisfaction. This experience taught me the importance of active user involvement in the design process.

I am familiar with Figma, Sketch, and Adobe XD for creating wireframes and prototypes. I usually start with low-fidelity sketches to brainstorm ideas and then elevate it to high-fidelity designs in Figma, as its collaborative features also allow for real-time feedback, making it ideal for team projects.

To stay updated on design trends and technologies, I regularly follow influential design blogs, participate in online courses, and engage in communities on platforms like Medium and Dribbble. Networking with other designers during events helps me gain different perspectives and inspiration.

User-centered design focuses on prioritizing the needs, wants, and limitations of end-users throughout the design process. I believe that involving users in testing phases, gathering feedback, and iterating designs based on their experiences is crucial for creating effective and enjoyable products.
