Communications Specialist:The Communications Specialist supports the Utah Division of Outdoor Recreation's mission by storytelling and distributing information both internally and externally to the public, news media, and other stakeholders. This is done through various digital media platforms such as social media, videos, blogs, and other digital marketing formats. This role will also develop and execute communications strategies and storytelling efforts to highlight the division's programs, initiatives, and successes, with a focus on education and safety. Additionally, the position assists in coordinating and supporting division events, including the Outdoor Recreation Summit, speaker series, meet-ups, education series, and partner event sponsorship, attendance, and presence. If this job description describes your ideal role, apply today!Principal Duties:• Execute the division’s social media plan by creating content to expand the division's reach.• Collaborate with the public information officer to ensure consistent and effective messaging across all platforms.• Implement the division’s email distribution strategy, including external newsletters and other promotional emails.• Create and regularly update website content.• Utilize graphic design skills to produce visually appealing materials, including social media content, brochures, infographics, etc.• Assist with writing and distributing press releases.• Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of storytelling efforts, adjusting strategies as needed to maximize impact.• Coordinate and/or act as a liaison between the agency or work unit and other agencies, work units, organizations, councils, committees, contractors, and suppliers.• Schedule and coordinate appointments, meetings, facilities, meals, equipment, speakers, and follow-ups as needed.• Assist with event planning for the Outdoor Recreation Summit, Summit Speaker/Meetup Series, and partner events.The Ideal Candidate:• Experience in developing and executing comprehensive communications campaigns.• Working knowledge of social media marketing and best practices (required).• Excellent communication skills related to marketing and advertising, including researching, writing, and editing a broad range of materials.• Proficiency in AP style writing. Design and branding experience, including knowledge of typography, image manipulation, illustration, and animation.• Proficiency in video production and editing, with the ability to create engaging and informative video content.• Strong awareness of digital media trends and evolving online platforms, with an innovative approach to media and advertising strategies.• Website design and management skills; WordPress experience is a plus.• Excellent judgment in gauging public interest in outdoor recreation and generating responsive stories.• Strong background in strategic communications, marketing, and community relations (required).• Event planning and coordination experience.Why You Should Join Our Team:This is your opportunity to become an integral part of the Utah Division of Outdoor Recreation's communications team.
