Job Summary

We are looking for a Remote Senior Accountant to provide advanced accounting and payroll support to U.S. accounting firms. This role involves overseeing financial reporting, tax compliance, payroll processing, and mentoring junior accountants. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, federal and state payroll regulations, and leadership skills to manage complex client needs in a remote environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Reporting and Oversight:
    • Prepare and review financial statements, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
    • Conduct financial analysis and provide actionable insights to clients.
  • Tax Compliance and Advisory:
    • Oversee preparation of tax filings, including corporate and sales tax returns.
    • Ensure compliance with U.S. federal and state tax regulations.
    • Provide tax planning and advisory support to clients.
  • Payroll Management:
    • Oversee and process client payroll using tools like Gusto, ADP, or similar platforms.
    • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws.
    • Manage payroll reconciliations, benefits administration, and tax withholdings.
  • Team Management and Review:
    • Supervise, mentor, and review the work of junior and intermediate accountants.
    • Ensure accuracy and compliance in team deliverables, including payroll reports, reconciliations, and journal entries.
  • Client Relationship Management:
    • Act as the primary contact for assigned clients, addressing queries and providing strategic financial advice.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to ensure satisfaction and retention.
  • Process Improvement:
    • Recommend and implement improvements in accounting and payroll workflows.
    • Leverage tools such as Dext, Hubdoc, or Bill.com for automation and efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of accounting and payroll experience, including working with U.S. clients or firms.
  • CPA certification or progress toward CPA preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, and payroll systems like Gusto or ADP.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, federal and state tax regulations, and payroll laws.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional written and verbal English communication skills.

 

Preferred but Not Required

  • Experience with multi-state payroll processing.
  • Familiarity with tools like Dext, Hubdoc, or Bill.com for workflow efficiency.
  • Leadership experience in a remote accounting environment.
