National Training Director

The DNC is hiring a National Training Director. The National Training Director is responsible for scaffolding and supporting the success of national and state programs, from training for staff, organizers, and volunteers to onboarding, leadership retreats, skills development, in-person workshops, coordinated campaign staff training and deep dives. The Director will collaborate with HQ and state teams to support early programs in states, especially for skills development up and down the organizing team and staff management across departments. At their core, the National Training Director thrives off growing leadership and capacity in new and rapidly growing programs in person and virtually, can facilitate conversations on organizing program health, and drive training to coach towards performance across disciplines.


Responsibilities
  • Deliver large-scale, inspiring, engaging, high quality ,training workshops in-person and virtually for staff, coordinated campaigns, volunteers, organizers, etc.
  • Develop content for a first-of-its-kind coordinated campaign training program. 
  • Create workshops and guidance for volunteers and staff on innovative volunteer and voter engagement tactics. 
  • Work across sister committees and allied organizations to bring a sense of holistic alignment to the democratic training ecosystem. 
  • Other duties as assigned to support the department and the DNC’s mission


You'll be a good fit for this role if:
  • You have 4+ years of experience in effectively managing a high-performing and diverse team across multiple layers - specifically building trust; setting and communicating ambitious goals; holding yourself and others accountable to goals; and coaching towards results to improve and develop staff. 
  • You have direct experience working with or on a campaign. 
  • You can observe a workplace to identify key drivers of culture and performance, and can coach and influence staff to improve and excel.
  • You can lead high-impact, inspiring trainings with a focus on high-quality instruction, clear norms and expectations setting, and excellent adult learning.
  • You leverage data to indicate where coaching and support may be needed and drive towards metrics to increase volunteer and staff capacity 
  • You love building new systems, materials, and management for innovative organizing programs
  • You believe staff, grasstops and grassroots activists, and volunteers are leaders, and that continuous learning and increased leadership is the key to unlocking voter and volunteer potential
  • You understand that coaching and development is the core of building excellent staff, volunteers and ultimately, the best voter outreach
  • You are comfortable training senior staff, organizers, and volunteers, and differentiating learning, delivery, and content across all three
  • Learning is in your bones – you are a lifelong learner and want to continuously grow.
  • You are a self starter. 
  • Spanish fluency is preferred, but not required.


$120,000 - $120,000 a year
The starting salary for this role is $120,000 on an annualized basis, commensurate with experience and qualifications.This is a full-time, exempt position, that may require work on weekends and includes a significant amount of travel - 50%
