SAP Archiving with ABAP

This role is for one of the Weekday's clients

We are looking for a highly skilled SAP Archiving with ABAP Developer to design, develop, test, and implement IT solutions within SAP landscapes. The role involves managing data archiving, ensuring compliance with legal and security requirements, and optimizing SAP systems to enhance business efficiency. You will work closely with IT and business stakeholders to execute changes, oversee system improvements, and resolve incidents in an agile DevOps environment.

SAP Archiving & Data Management

  • Design and implement SAP data archiving strategies for SAP ECC and S/4 HANA systems, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Analyze data growth using DB02, TANA, DVM to optimize storage and system performance.
  • Manage ILM and non-ILM archiving methodologies, including setup and execution.
  • Work with SAP Content Server, OpenText, Azure Blob, and SAP IQ for efficient data management.
  • Implement archiving objects for IDOCs, change documents, SOFFCONT1, work items, logs, and various functional modules (SD, MM, PP, FICO, etc.)
  • Ensure GDPR compliance by creating policies, audit areas, and destruction rules.

Technical Development & Customization

  • Develop and support ABAP programs related to data archiving and system optimization.
  • Implement SAP ILM, DART, PBS & TJC (Archiving Session Cockpit) solutions.
  • Perform root cause analysis and resolution of incidents related to SAP archiving and performance.
  • Monitor and optimize scheduled archiving activities based on system growth trends.

Process & System Improvement

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate SAP archiving with business processes.
  • Oversee incident management and problem resolution to ensure system availability.
  • Continuously improve DevOps processes, automation scripts, and system dashboards for better monitoring and control.
  • Provide technical leadership on SAP archiving best practices and performance optimization.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in SAP ABAP/HANA development with expertise in SAP data archiving.
  • Strong knowledge of SAP ECC (SD, MM, PP, FICO, etc.) and data growth analysis tools (DB02, TANA, DVM).
  • Expertise in SAP ILM, DART, SAP Content Server, OpenText, Azure Blob, and SAP IQ.
  • Hands-on experience in implementing archiving policies aligned with compliance requirements (GDPR, audit policies, etc.).
  • Experience with PBS & TJC Archiving tools.
  • Functional understanding of FI/CO, MM, and Logistics processes.
  • Strong incident management and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working in an Agile/DevOps environment with knowledge of ITIL frameworks.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with S/4 HANA in at least one functional module.
  • Hands-on experience with ABAP development for archiving solutions.
  • Familiarity with system security, performance monitoring, and cloud-based archiving.
