Environmental Compliance Specialist

Woodard & Curran also aids employees in earning, upgrading, and keeping their certifications within the industry.

 

What will you be doing at Woodard & Curran?

 

Woodard & Curran is growing, and we are seeking an Environmental Compliance Specialist for the Bradenton, Florida wastewater treatment facility. The Environmental Compliance Specialist is responsible for the process control and permit sampling program as well as performing the analytical testing on wastewater in a lab environment as directed by project management and the regulatory compliance permit(s). Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 3:00pm.


Responsibilities Include:
  • Monitor wastewater treatment plant processes and equipment both manually and via SCADA automation and communicating adjustments to operators as necessary to control their operation.
  • Perform water quality sampling, testing, and analysis to determine compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Utilize software programs for compliance tracking and maintain all necessary records.
  • Perform full range of in-house laboratory tests, following prescribed laboratory procedures, as directed by supervisor.
  • Monthly, quarterly, and annual environmental reporting.
  • Develop project wide Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for sampling activities.
  • Develop and monitor process control sampling regimens.
  • Develop process monitoring tools to drive treatment performance.
  • Participate in development of Industrial Pre-treatment program.
  • Monitor all permit requirements.
  • Train operators on lab practices and process centric operations.
  • Assist in permit renewals.
  • Keeps up to date on environmental regulatory changes and educates the plant staff on these changes.
  • Engages employees to pay attention to and notify them of any environmental issues.


What will you need to succeed?
  • Florida wastewater C operator’s license or higher desired.
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in compliance and lab work of water or wastewater treatment facilities.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • High School Diploma or GED;
  • Applicant must possess a valid Driver’s License and a good driving record.
  • Must be able to lift or move up to 40 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Successful candidates will be required to complete a background check, pre-placement physical and drug screen before employment.

$28 - $32 an hour
Depending on qualifications and experience.

Retirement Savings:

• 401(k) Pre-tax or Roth Contributions: The company will match equal to 100% of the first 3% of salary contributed; all employees are eligible to participate in the 401(k) plan and are 100% vested in the value of their own contributions and any employer matching contributions.


Time away from work:

• Vacation time is provided to full and part-time regular employees. Vacation is accrued based on the number of hours worked per week as well as prior years of experience.

• Woodard & Curran offers paid sick time to eligible employees who are absent due to their own non-work related illness, injury, or medical procedure.

• Woodard & Curran provides up to 80 hours of Paid Parental Leave for child bonding in a 12-month period.

• Company-paid short- and long-term disability insurance from Sun Life to assist with replacing a portion of your income in the event of non-job-related illness or injury. Eligible employees are automatically enrolled and eligible immediately.
