As a Knowledge Graph Engineer I in AbbVie Business Technology Solutions (BTS), you’ll have opportunities to contribute to the digital transformation of a leading biopharma company, helping to create solutions that impact patients and their communities for the better.

**This is a hybrid role based in Lake County, IL***

Purpose

As a Knowledge Graph Engineer, you will be the primary party responsible for bringing enterprise data into our large knowledge graphs. You will develop production code to support the ingress and egress of this data to and from the knowledge graphs. You will perform basic and advanced graph querying and data modeling on the knowledge graphs that lie at the heart of the organization’s digital ecosystem.  You may also be tasked with data science and visualization development as needed to support the AbbVie’s dynamic research needs.

Responsibilities

The Knowledge Graph Engineer will work with the RAIDERS (AI, machine learning) and EPIC (enterprise product incubator) teams. This role is positioned within Information Research to support enterprise products and capability.  You will report to the graph work stream lead.

The AbbVie R&D Convergence Hub or “ARCH Graph” is one of the most important components of AbbVie’s R&D digital strategy and brings together over 200 data sources from the biomedical domain.  It lies at the core of research and discovery at AbbVie.

  • You will plan, organize, and develop Python code to move data (ETL) from the enterprise platform applications into the enterprise knowledge graphs.
  • You will collaborate to model the graph environment to best represent the data coming from the multiple enterprise systems.
  • You will develop production-ready Python code.  This development will include working with data from Neo4j and HDFS/Hive via Spark connectors.
  • You will also help internal clients understand, explore, and access the graph environment.

Qualifications

The person best suited to this will be a creative and holistic thinker who has demonstrated experience in graph and ETL development in a production environment and who has developed complete solutions that span a stack of technologies.  They will have intimate knowledge of enterprise systems integration. They will operate independently to complete work and collaborate with the team.  This is a dream job for anyone who is eager to develop graph solutions at enterprise scale. 

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or other relevant technical degree plus  2 years experience; Master’s Degree
  • Experience with Neo4j and the Cypher query language
  • Experience with enterprise platform integration
  • Experience developing Python code in a production environment
  • Experience building graph analytics and models

Beneficial:

  • Experience in the pharmaceutical or medical domain
  • Education in hard sciences
  • Neo4j certifications
  • Experience with Spark, Hadoop, AWS, Cloudera
  • Development experience with Neo4j as a data source
  • Knowledge or experience with Semantic Web Technologies and linked data

  • The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range.   • This job is eligible to participate in our short-term incentive programs. ​​
