We're actively seeking a highly motivated Resident Engineer (Water) with a proven track record in the Construction Engineering and Management industry. Based in Chicago, IL, this role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to impactful water infrastructure projects.
Your responsibilities include providing technical direction, mentoring staff, and ensuring project success through effective supervision of field activities, maintaining client relationships, and adhering to budget and schedule requirements.
In this role, leading and supervising a consultant team, you'll contribute to rewarding water distribution construction projects. This position provides growth opportunities and the chance to make a difference in the Chicago area, embracing the challenges of Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI).
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
Project Delivery and Leadership: Responsible for the safe, on-time, on-budget, and high-quality delivery of projects. Provide day-to-day leadership and delivery from Pre-Construction through closeout.
Contract Compliance and Documentation: Verify and document overall contract compliance, interpret project drawings and specifications, and provide recommendations to the client. Review and route project deliverables, including submittals, RFIs, work plans, schedules, meeting minutes, etc.
Coordination and Communication: Aid in coordinating contractors' work activities, chair internal and external project meetings, and actively participate in the contractor's invoice review process. Actively communicate project status to clients and stakeholders.
Closeout and Reporting: Assist in project closeout activities, including processing documentation, warranties, O&Ms, punch lists, and final change management and invoicing documentation. Develop and maintain logs, reports, or other documentation for project reporting.
Quality Assurance and Client Interaction: Interact with construction contractors in performing Quality Assurance inspections. Support client interaction and coordination between internal and external project stakeholders.
Mitigating and Resolving Construction Issues: Take pride in preventing delays or rework by proactively identifying and addressing issues. Provide solutions to meet client expectations.
Minimum Requirements:
BA/BS +6 Years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Valid Driver License required
Preferred Qualifications:
Water Distribution Construction Experience
+ 6 Years of Relevant Experience
Professional Engineer License
