CURRENTLY Hiring a Buyer for a Food Service Distributor located in the Bronx!

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Buyer to manage the day-to-day purchasing of frozen and refrigerated products. This role involves closely monitoring stock levels, meeting with brokers and manufacturer representatives, and ensuring accurate pricing and timely deliveries. The ideal candidate will have experience in purchasing within the Food & Beverage industry, with a preference for grocery and/or food-warehouse experience

Top Skills- Prior Purchasing Experience

• Experience within Distribution/Warehouse setting with Food & Beverage
• "Center of the Plate" buying experience (Meat, Poultry, and Seafood)
• Experience working with brokers, manufacturer reps, and managing supplier relationships
• Knowledge of pricing strategies and performing price comparisons for market-sensitive items

Job Responsibilities:

• Purchasing of frozen and refrigerated products.
• Experience with meat, poultry, and/or seafood
• Early morning review of out-of-stock list.
• Create and delete codes for new and discontinued products.
• Meet with brokers and manufacturer representatives.
• Track market prices & conduct price comparisons.
• Review invoices to ensure correct pricing.
• Follow up on short or late deliveries.
• Conduct on-site visits to review buying procedures and alert to market conditions weekly.
• Establish pricing on all market-sensitive items.
• Review Cost Audit report and make necessary corrections.
• Review slow movement reports and arrange to promote products.

Skills & Requirements:

• 1+ years of purchasing experience
• Experience in the Food & Beverage industry (preferably in grocery)
• Proficiency in purchase order systems
• Strong negotiation skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel
• Fluency in Spanish (highly preferred)

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr. *Willing to increase dependent on experience*
