We're seeking a dynamic Lead Product Marketing Manager to join our rapidly growing startup in the employer benefits space. This will be a dynamic, high-impact position. As the first person in this role, you will have the unique opportunity to capitalize on the company’s early success by building the foundation of our product marketing and go-to-market enablement strategy.
Product Marketing
Develop and execute our product marketing strategy, including positioning, messaging, and go-to-market plans
Deeply understand product capabilities and translate into use cases pertinent for Benefits buyers
Collaborate closely with all customer-facing teams, including Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, Benefits Solutions, and Strategic Alliances, to create compelling narratives and messaging that resonate with benefits and total rewards decision-makers, executives, and strategic partners such as benefits consultants and the broader HR tech ecosystem
Conduct market research to identify trends, buyer personas, and competitive insights
Collaborate with product and engineering teams to inform product roadmap and prioritization
Sales Enablement
Design and implement sales enablement programs to equip our sales team with the knowledge and tools needed to sell effectively
Build the toolkit to increase GTM effectiveness, directly impacting KPIs such as bookings, win and close rates, and average contract values/selling prices. This may include sales and success enablement materials such as battle cards, collateral, playbooks, demos, training, etc.
Partner with go-to-market leadership to identify and address knowledge gaps before they become bottlenecks
Cross-Functional Leadership
Serve as the bridge between product, marketing, and sales teams
Analyze sales and marketing data to optimize strategies and drive revenue growth
Present insights and recommendations to executive leadership
In their first 90 days, the ideal candidate will be a self-starter:
Learn product capabilities through embedding cross functionally across the company
Study existing sales and marketing collateral, including extensive listening to Gong
Map the Benefits industry in the voice of Benefits buyers and brokers/consultants
Develop hypotheses of prioritized Benefits verticals where Benepass should focus as initial beachheads for customer acquisition – backed by compelling quantitative and qualitative evidence
Develop roadmap for collateral and talk track creation, prioritize, and hold themselves accountable to regular delivery
Within this candidate’s first year, this person will refine their hypotheses and content library through continued learning through being in market (i.e. joining sales calls, industry research, interviewing customers, getting cross-functional perspectives). They will earn credibility internally as a strategic thought partner and be brought in to strategize individual deals with account executives, content marketing, event marketing, and overall GTM team enablement.
As this role develops, this person will not only become a strategic member of the GTM leadership team but also influence Product and Operations roadmaps.
REQUIREMENTS
5+ years of experience in product marketing, preferably in B2B SaaS or HR tech
Proven track record of developing successful go-to-market strategies
Strong understanding of sales processes and enablement best practices
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous startup environment
Experience with employer benefits or HR technology is a plus
Previous start-up experience
Familiarity with US healthcare, employer benefits, insurance brokers/consultants, and/or fintech
Certain roles may involve occasional travel. You will be expected to attend company-wide on-site events three times per year.
Although we operate as a 100% US Remote company, certain positions may necessitate occasional attendance at one of our offices in NY or Oakland. Additionally, some roles may require residence in specific geographic regions or time zones.
All else equal, preference will be given to candidates based in New York City who can go into the office (near Union Square) 3x per week
Base: $130,000 to $175,000
