Product Lead (New Verticals)

Our healthcare system is the leading cause of personal bankruptcy in the U.S. Every year, over 50 million Americans suffer adverse financial consequences as a result of seeking care, from lower credit scores to garnished wages. The challenge is only getting worse, as high deductible health plans are the fastest growing plan design in the U.S.

Cedar’s mission is to leverage data science, smart product design and personalization to make healthcare more affordable and accessible. Today, healthcare providers still engage with its consumers in a “one-size-fits-all” approach; and Cedar is excited to leverage consumer best practices to deliver a superior experience.

The Role

Cedar is looking for a Product Lead to head our New Verticals initiative. Cedar has built the most successful platform for healthcare payments, used by the largest hospitals and physician groups. Now, we’re launching new products on our platform to address the needs of other types of healthcare, like dentistry, orthodontics, veterinary, etc.

As Product Lead, you will lead a highly talented team of engineers and designers to develop and launch new payment products in different verticals of healthcare. You will work closely with a commercial counterpart to identify market opportunities and quickly develop solutions to address these opportunities. You will have direct, frequent access to customers and users to understand their needs and test ideas.

This is not a typical “big company” product role - it’s a unique opportunity to lead early stage product development with the resources of an established company. This role will be challenging, sometimes requiring you to stretch beyond the typical role of a product manager, but will also be fun and rewarding. It’s a fantastic opportunity to learn how to do “zero to one” development!

Responsibilities

  • Recognize opportunities in healthcare payments markets. You will be responsible for doing market and customer research, identifying opportunities to deploy Cedar’s technology within different verticals of healthcare.
  • Manage development of new products and features. You will lead a small team of designers and engineers to build new features and products. You will be responsible for defining the “what” and “why” of each feature and product, working with a product designer to craft a vision for each feature. You will manage a feature backlog, defining prioritization for the engineering team.
  • Support go-to-market for your products. You will work closely with a commercial counterpart to create a sales and marketing strategy for each product. You will often participate in sales pitches for early stage products to understand customer needs and help refine the pitch. You will work with marketers to craft clever campaigns.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 6+ years of experience in a product role at a tech company or early stage start-up
  • Experience working with commercial counterparts to launch and scale new products & features
  • Experience with all aspects of product and feature development, such as managing a product backlog, working with designers to create features, and working with engineering teams to implement and maintain a product

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience managing development of an early stage product
  • This role is excellent for former founders
  • Salary/Hourly Rate Range*: $164,050 - $193,000
  • This role is equity eligible
  • This role offers a competitive benefits and wellness package

*Subject to location, experience, and education

What do we offer to the ideal candidate?

  • A chance to improve the U.S. healthcare system at a high-growth company! Our leading healthcare financial platform is scaling rapidly, helping millions of patients per year
  • Unless stated otherwise, most roles have flexibility to work from home or in the office, depending on what works best for you
  • For exempt employees: Unlimited PTO for vacation, sick and mental health days–we encourage everyone to take at least 20 days of vacation per year to ensure dedicated time to spend with loved ones, explore, rest and recharge
  • 16 weeks paid parental leave with health benefits for all parents, plus flexible re-entry schedules for returning to work
  • Diversity initiatives that encourage Cedarians to bring their whole selves to work, including three employee resource groups: be@cedar (for BIPOC-identifying Cedarians and their allies), Pridecones (for LGBTQIA+ Cedarians and their allies) and Cedar Women+ (for female-identifying Cedarians)
  • Competitive pay, equity (for qualifying roles) and health benefits that start on the first of the month following your start date (or on your start date if your start date coincides with the first of the month)
  • Cedar matches 100% of your 401(k) contributions, up to 3% of your annual compensation
  • Access to hands-on mentorship, employee and management coaching, and a team discretionary budget for learning and development resources to help you grow both professionally and personally
