About the role:
We're looking to hire an Engineering Manager to lead the Platform and Engineering Enablement function at Teachable within our Platform team.
Platform enablement is intended to be composed of specialists in a given technical domain and to help bridge capability gaps. It will cross-cut to the other engineering pods and have the required bandwidth to research, try out options, and make informed suggestions on adequate tooling, practices, frameworks, as well as any of the ecosystem choices around the application stack. Another key function of Enablement is to distribute knowledge of how to effectively use the platform and infrastructure tooling that exists to efficiently deploy resilient software using devops practices
As a part of the Engineering Management group, you will help guide the department towards defining its technical vision and direction as well as establish processes and drive initiatives that result in technical, operational, and cultural improvements across the Engineering department.
While you lead and mentor a team of 5 DevOps engineers, you will sit in a player coach- capacity. Most of your time will be demonstrating technical leadership by empowering, unblocking your team of engineers and helping them to deliver quality work with a high degree of autonomy.
You will gain valuable experience as a people manager who cares about the well-being and growth of your engineers, coaching your pod members as they find their own success in developing their careers.
This role will be part of a highly collaborative team made up of US based technologists at Teachable and Brazil.
