Job Description

We are seeking a Scientist I, Sample Analyst to support drug substances/product testing for our Professional Scientific Services group in the Gaithersburg, MD area.

Analyst responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following :

  • Candidate will be responsible for testing drug substances and products by established site-specific GxP, SOP, and protocols. Testing includes, but is not limited to; chromatographic, electrophoresis, and spectroscopic methods.
  • BS degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or other related scientific discipline with 0-1 years of relevant experience or other equivalent experience. Prior wet lab experience is a must.
  • Analysts will document and report all work using an electronic laboratory notebook and computer-based data storage software.
  • Recognizes deviations from project guidelines, determines appropriate action and notifies applicable personnel.
  • Candidate must have excellent organizational and time management skills, and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Maintain laboratory and equipment using Lean 6 Sigma methods.
  • Must be willing to participate in cross-functional support teams, such as sample management.
  • Applicants must be willing to work around and handle unknown health risk material in a Biosafety level 2/3 Environment.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate would possess:

  • Prior experience with chromatography (SEC, IEC, RPLC), electrophoresis (cIEF, cGE), physiochemical/compendial (Appearance, pH, A280) or immunoassay (ELISA, SPR) techniques is preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  •  Great attention to detail and data integrity.
  • Experienced in pipetting and using a variety of pipettes.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve with a good understanding and application of the scientific method.
  • Familiarity with SOP and GxP requirements and documentation.
  • Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, while maintaining self-motivation, adaptability, and a positive attitude

Basic minimum requirements:

  •  BS in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or other related scientific discipline with 0-1 years of relevant experience. Prior wet lab experience is a must.
  • General understanding of liquid chromatography, electrophoresis, and spectroscopy
  • Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
  •  Computer Skills: Outlook, Excel, Word, Chrome Web browser.

The position is full-time, Monday - Friday 8:00 am-5:00 pm. Candidates must be flexible to adapt to schedule changes requiring shift changes and/or weekend work, and overtime may be required as needed. Candidates living within a commutable distance of Gaithersburg, MD are encouraged to apply.
