About the position
The Product Manager – Energy Storage Systems has ownership of product success, with particular focus and oversight of product requirements, product roadmap, and product cost for Fluence’s products. The Product Manager is directly involved in the specification of product functionality and is a key stakeholder in the technological development of Fluence’s product offerings. To ensure product roadmaps that meet business needs and are aligned with overall strategy, the Product Manager works highly cross-functionally, touching every other part of the organization. The Product Manager also stays current on competitors’ offerings and ensures Fluence’s product plans result in offerings which are uniquely valuable to customers.
Job responsibility
•Product requirement. Collect, manage and maintain traceability of requirements from all stakeholders across product releases. Responsible for writing product requirements and market requirements document
•Direct interaction with customers and Sales team to assess customer needs and create product requirements addressing customer needs.
•Develop product requirements from competitiveness analysis. Interaction with other key external stakeholders such as suppliers and industry trade organizations. Analysis of competitor solutions and insights into what product capabilities are needed to increase differentiation or close gaps.
•Create/modify product requirements based on product feedback and lesson learned from engineering, manufacturing sales, project delivery and services.
•Work with teams worldwide to analyze requirements and find commonalities and differences in local requirements
•Business case
•Development business case for investments and gain internal approval, including new product, new component, new technology, new manufacturing and new supplier investments.
•Product roadmap
•Optimize prioritization of development activities of product requirements to maximize Fluence’s competitive differentiation.
•Marketing & Sales support
•Develop core positioning and messaging for the product
•Provide contents for product marketing to develop marketing collateral, such as product data sheet, key applications, etc.
•Support customers engagement and develop relationships in key clients
• Product configuration
•Own product-level cost models and coordination with product cost management team to achieve competitive cost positions while balancing functionality and compliance needs
•Responsible for product/component cost and configurations in product standard offering guidance.
•Responsible for TCO & CAPEX comparison between product variants.
•Product development execution
•Drive new product introductions through a stage gate release process. Responsible for milestone reviews of the stage gate release process. Verify product deliverables against product requirements.
•Ensure product documentation development aligns with customer’s project development needs.
Qualification
•5+ years of experience and a BS in a technical field such as engineering, and/or an MBA, is preferred but not required. Most critical is an educational and work history background demonstrating deep competencies in analytical thinking encompassing both technical and commercial strategy.
•Possesses strong interpersonal communications skills to coordinate with diverse internal and external teams worldwide.
•Demonstrates sound business judgment.
•Takes individual initiative and works with minimal supervision while being a collaborative team player.
•Works dynamically, across multiple teams and projects concurrently, in a technical business environment.
•Possesses an entrepreneurial drive for getting things done and a “whatever it takes” attitude.
•Experience in workflow tools such as JIRA.
•Experience in and knowledge of Agile development methods.
•Ability to utilize data and statistical analyses to inform decisions.
•Has excellent English verbal and writing skills. Additional languages or international work experience are a plus.
