Job Description

Role Summary:
The role of the HR Manager is an exciting opportunity to partner with operations as well as manages the Employee and Labor Relations functions of the Manufacturing Plant, to insure sound morale, a safe work environment and training of Management Personnel to meet the Company’s short-and-long-term goals. 

Coordinates implementation of services, policies and programs through Human Resources staff, including but not limited to: recruiting and staffing logistics, performance management and improvement systems, organizational development, compliance to regulatory concerns and reporting, employee orientation, development and training, policy development and documentation, compensation and benefits administration and employee safety, welfare, wellness and health.

Responsibilities

  • Serve and provide onsite HR leadership and support for facilities - acting as main point of contact for all recruitment, benefits, payroll, and employee relations issues.
  • Participate in and lead key HR initiatives, including staffing, management training, performance management, organization planning, compensation planning, and employee development.
  • Understand dynamics and key business priorities of client groups to provide coaching to business leaders on effectively managing and leading our organizations.
  • Assume leadership role in resolving employee relations issues, coaching managers through the process.
  • Advocate and offer guidance to employees concerning work-related issues and work to resolve issues in a proactive and positive manner.
  • Interpret and implement HR policies, practices and procedures when questions arise (vacation, parental leave, etc.).
  • Manage staffing process, working with hiring managers and talent acquisition team to identify objective recruitment strategies, as well as ensure diverse candidate slates and top-quality candidate selection.
  • Manage performance activities / initiatives in collaboration with legal and labor relations.

Qualifications

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred) in Human Resources or a business-related field.
  • Minimum of 6 years’ experience as a HR generalist and a minimum of 3 years’ supervisory experience.
  • Experience in a union environment, managing a collective bargaining agreement.
  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP (a strong plus)       
  • Proven track record in creating and maintaining employee communications strategies and employee engagement plans and initiatives including recognition, employee engagement events and strategies for collecting employee feedback and creating action plans to address employee concerns and ideas.
  • Proven work experience leading recruiting efforts for a Manufacturing facility for hourly plant and plant management positions.
  • Solid ability to conduct different types of interviews (structured, competency-based, behavioral etc.)
  • Hands on experience with various selection processes (video interviewing, phone interviewing, reference check etc.)
  • Familiarity with HR databases, Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) and Candidate Management Systems (CMS)
  • Hands-on experience with recruiting software, as well as Human Resource Information Systems (LAWSON and Kronos) or Human Resource Management Systems (Workday)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strategic thinker with proven ability to drive continuous improvement and results.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
