You have a passion for sports imagery, thrive in the fast-paced world of editing on a deadline, and are based in Mexico. You are a self-starting, multitasking team player who can also assume individual responsibility for issues as they arise, working accurately and efficiently with a remote team. You have experience working with IPTC metadata and captions. You want to work for one of the world’s leading creators of images with some of the world’s best editorial photographers.


Picture Desk editors are trusted decision-makers and problem-solvers, responsible for receiving and editing editorial content for the global market under constant deadlines while ensuring accuracy, editorial integrity, quality, and timely distribution. As the centralized hub for various departments, the Picture Desk collaborates daily with photographers, assignment editors and tech teams in order to maintain a high standard of quality for clients. Editors curate and highlight our top images on social media, marketing platforms and the GettyImages.com website. Working flexible hours – including nights, weekends and holidays – is required.


Your Next Challenge:
  • Accurately and quickly review and edit sports imagery to meet Getty Images guidelines with a commitment to editorial integrity
  • This position is capable of handling live and non-live workflows depending on assignment. Picture Desk Editors support major events on site if needed.
  • Check images for proper IPTC metadata and captions; fixing in real-time as needed to post for deadline clients
  • Assign ranking and routing information to designate where an image is sent
  • Prioritize tasks according to relevancy and deadlines in collaboration with a global editing team
  • Exercise solid news judgment; maintain a high level of journalistic knowledge and awareness of current and trending sports events
  • Maintain high level of awareness on current news, sports, entertainment and popular culture events around the world as well as an awareness of current coverage and archive images available
  • Liaise with other global picture desk editors, photographers, assignment editors DoPs and other internal customers on coverage
  • Curate strong and focused sets of images to appeal to a consumer audience
  • Maintain a regularly updated GettyImages.com homepage with CMS programs to showcase featured stories
  • Communicate with photographers to confirm receipt of images and give feedback. Troubleshoot and report technology issues both externally with photographers and clients and any internal support.


What You'll Need:
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in the editorial photography industry
  • Keen awareness of current sports events and ability to engage with appropriate imagery on Getty Images’ social media handles
  • The position also requires keen picture judgment, advanced knowledge and experience with industry standard editing tools and an understanding of editorial integrity operations.
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a remote team environment
  • Experience with industry-standard editing tools, Adobe Photoshop and Digital asset management (DAM) software
  • Ability and desire to work flexible, non-traditional hours including weekends, nights & holidays
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment accurately and efficiently with high-pressure breaking news situations while maintaining thorough attention to detail
  • Demonstrated knowledge of industry style captioning and IPTC metadata standards, excellent journalistic writing, and copy-editing skills
  • Ability to navigate various social media including, Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook using a social marketing management platform
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Mac OS
