Design Lead (UX/UI)

Astor & Sanders Corporation (Astor) is an award-winning IT solutions provider headquartered in McLean, VA seeking a Design Lead (UX/UI). This is a full-time and onsite position in DMV area.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Apply human-centered design practices to develop user-friendly, accessible digital experiences that align with OHS mission needs and stakeholder goals.
  • Lead user research, interviews, and usability testing to gather feedback and translate findings into actionable design improvements.
  • Create and maintain wireframes, interactive prototypes, and UI specifications that meet Section 508 and WCAG accessibility standards.
  • Design and optimize responsive, mobile-first interfaces that function consistently across devices, browsers, and bandwidth conditions.
  • Collaborate closely with developers, product owners, and subject matter experts in Agile sprints to iterate and refine user-centered solutions.
  • Establish and enforce consistent design systems, interaction patterns, and branding across all user-facing IT-AMS components.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
  • Bachelor’s Degree Required
  • 4-6 years of experience in merging technology, design, and user experience including
  • Working knowledge of UI/UX
  • Experience with Human Centered Design (HCD)
  • Experience conducting user research and data
  • Experience developing design patterns and iterative prototyping and testing
  • WCAG and Digital Services Playbook knowledge
  • Familiarity with 508 testing
  • Experience integrating user feedback into Agile sprints
  • Has previously worked in an Agile environment
  • Familiarity with database concepts including data modelling, objects, analysis and security to promote productive collaboration with the Database Architect
  • Prior HHS experience is preferred
