YouTube Video Editor - Freelance

Edit videos that help millions get their time back.

So you can edit videos?

Prove it.

At Opal, we help people take back control of their time — and we do it in style.
That means creating content our community wants to watch, not just “consume.”

From interviews and mini-docs to product demos, we’ve got a ton of raw footage, and we’re looking for someone to help us turn it into magic.

We’re on the hunt for a freelance video editor who can help us scale our creative output.

Your core mission is to edit long-form, landscape content for YouTube.

Short-form (Reels, Shorts, TikToks) comes second and will mostly be repurposed from the long-form source.

What you’ll do

  • Edit long-form YouTube content: interviews, behind-the-scenes, product deep dives, founder POVs

  • Edit short-form content for YouTube Shorts, Instagram, and TikTok

  • Adapt to each platform — you know the pacing, dimensions, and tone that make content work natively

  • Bonus if you have graphic design or motion skills to elevate the visual storytelling

What we’re looking for

  • Experience editing for YouTube (long-form, landscape is a must)

  • A sharp eye, fast hand, and strong sense of rhythm and narrative

  • You’re comfortable giving creative input — not just executing a brief

  • Bonus: you have experience designing YouTube thumbnails

Your technical skills

✅ Proficiency in professional editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve (CapCut is a bonus!)

✅ Confident in color correction and grading techniques — taking our raw footage from flat to stunning, and occasionally stylizing it to feel more raw and authentic

✅ Solid sound design fundamentals, including music selection, dialogue editing, and sound mixing

✅ Able to organize footage into logical folder structures, manage media backups, and prepare clean, collaborative project files for team use

Practical Information

  • Freelance: ~2 days/week to start, with potential to grow

  • Location: Paris or remote, ideally within ±3h of CET

  • Start: ASAP

  • Language: Fluent in video. English helps too.

Why Opal

We’re not another company chasing watch time. We help people use their devices with intention and we’re building our YouTube community.

We’ve saved our Gems over 150 million hours of screen time, and we’re just getting started.

If you’re ready to make the kind of content people send to their group chat, send us a portfolio or a link to something you edited and loved.
