Job Posting: Production Lead (Hand Cut)

Location: Richmond, VA

Pay Rate: $19.00 – $19.50 per hour


Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Production Lead (Hand Cut) to join our team in Richmond, VA. This role is responsible for overseeing raw material allocation, coordinating raw product requests, and ensuring efficient workflow in the production area. The Production Lead will monitor product quality, track order progress, and verify finished goods. They will also report order modifications to the Shift Supervisor and ensure sufficient product availability for processing. Compliance with GMP sanitation standards within the Pre-Cut Department is a key responsibility.


Essential Job Functions:
  • Oversee the raw product allocation and ensure efficient workflow.
  • Monitor production line operations to ensure compliance with GMP sanitation standards.
  • Verify that employees follow correct cutting procedures and that orders selected by the expeditor are accurate.
  • Maintain organized documentation of raw product storage and finished product locations.
  • Track production pace, estimate completion times, and monitor route departure schedules.
  • Identify employees not meeting performance expectations and communicate concerns to supervisors.
  • Provide constructive feedback to employees and suggest operational improvements to managers.
  • Conduct quality control checks on finished products and promptly report issues to supervisors.


Working Conditions/Job Environment:
  • Repeated stooping and bending are required.
  • Frequent lifting and carrying of boxed and bagged fruits and vegetables.
  • Continuous standing for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 60 pounds repeatedly.
  • Exposure to a 36-degree (F) processing area with damp conditions for 8-12 hours per shift.


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Basic literacy and math skills, including recognition of letters, numbers, and symbols.
  • At least three months of experience in food preparation or food processing, preferably in the produce industry.
  • Pallet Jack certification required; forklift certification is preferred.
  • General understanding of GMP and food processing procedures.
  • Ability to navigate warehouse layouts and work under immediate supervision.
  • Basic computer skills, including email usage and keyboard navigation.
  • Ability to lift up to 60 pounds repeatedly.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two to four years of experience in food preparation or processing, particularly in the produce industry.
  • Advanced knowledge of GMP and food safety regulations.
  • Ability to work with moderate to limited supervision.
