Senior Global Compensation Operations Specialist

HubSpot continues to grow rapidly, and we are seeking a highly autonomous individual to help us grow and scale our Compensation team within the People Operations department. We are seeking a strategic, methodical, and agile Senior Global Compensation Operations Specialist to join our team to drive our cross-functional Compensation and People Operations projects from start to finish. These projects, due to their priority, size, and complexity, require a high bar for stakeholder and ambiguity management, critical and strategic thinking, methodical planning, thoughtful communication, and ability to lead by influencing and driving consensus. 


In this role, you’ll own each of these areas to drive projects from initiation to completion and ensure those involved have a clear understanding of approach, progress, risk, decisions, considerations, and more along the way. The ideal candidate is highly organized, adaptable, and has a strong background in both compensation and project management. 


Your skills should include consultation, collaborative problem solving, and process improvement expertise. This role will build collaborative partnerships across the business to deliver innovative solutions for compensation, total rewards, and broader HR initiatives; reinforcing the company’s growth strategy to support attracting and retaining the best talent in the industry. This includes supporting the development, implementation, communication and administration of innovative compensation programs and policies. Projects may incorporate job architecture, short and long-term incentives, reward and recognition programs, benchmarking and survey analysis, emerging trends, new technologies, and compensation training.


What you’ll do:


  • Provide consultation and partnership to identify needs and priorities; including conducting market research, internal analysis, establishing design principles, outlining implications through modeling, determining employee and cost impacts, and creating communications to the business
  • Influence the direction and design of innovative solutions for compensation programs by understanding the business, anticipating, and diagnosing functional needs
  • Help us scale, improve, and add efficiency to our current Compensation and People Operations programs & processes
  • Partner closely with business stakeholders and other cross-functional partners to define both the project scope, roles & responsibilities, necessary resources, and incremental deliverables for Compensation and People Operations project initiatives 
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, communication strategies, training materials, and more considering resource allocation and risk management 
  • Manage ambiguous situations methodically by thoughtfully outlining what’s known and unknown then determining an approach to fill gaps, bring clarity, and arrive at a solution / resolve roadblocks 
  • Keep the team breast of risks and challenges early on as they arise, then determine an action plan on how to pivot or manage the impact 
  • Partner with the DI&B team to ensure we monitor and measure our programs to prevent bias in our strategies; aligning equal pay principles
  • Build strong relationships with Finance, Legal, Recruiting, HR Business Partners, and Business Leaders across the organization based on project initiatives
  • Ensure the highest level of effective communication with the core project team and extended community of interest for the project 
  • Lead other compensation related activities and projects


We are looking for someone with:

  • Relevant experience within a global compensation function with extensive knowledge of compensation practices and theory; including experience in compensation program design and project management.
  • Strong Excel skills with ability to analyze data and see beyond the numbers to help guide decision making; ability to build audience-specific presentations 
  • Proven analytical, problem-solving, and financial modeling skills, with an attention to detail and accuracy
  • Experience with Workday or other HRIS
  • Flexible and consultative approach with ability to balance the data and needs of the business
  • Ability to work independently and within a team in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to exercise discretion and confidentiality as it pertains to compensation and HR related matters
  • Proven track record of designing and implementing pay & equity structures in global, publicly traded companies
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and consulting skills with the proven ability to build collaborative partnerships within HR and with Business leaders to recommend compensation solutions that solve business problems
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex concepts in simple terms to various audiences
  • Ability to organize and accomplish objectives autonomously and proactively navigate within a growing organization




Cash compensation range: 119200-190700 USD Annually

The cash compensation above includes base salary, on-target commission for employees in eligible roles, and annual bonus targets under HubSpot’s bonus plan for eligible roles. In addition to cash compensation, all HubSpotters are eligible to participate in HubSpot’s equity plan to receive restricted stock units (RSUs). Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay. Individual compensation packages are based on a few different factors unique to each candidate, including their skills, experience, qualifications and other job-related reasons.
