Product Analyst

Hi, we're The Browser Company 👋 and we're building a better way to use the internet.

Browsers are unique in that they are one of the only pieces of software that you share with your parents as well as your kids. Which makes sense, they're our doorway to the most important things — through them we socialize with loved ones, work on our passion projects, and explore our curiosities. But on their own, they don’t actually do a whole lot, they’re kind of just there. They don’t help us organize our messy lives or make it easier to compose our ideas. We believe that the browser could do so much more — it can empower and support the amazing things we do on the internet. That’s why we’re building one: a browser that can help us grow, create, and stay curious.

To accomplish this lofty task, we’re building a diverse team of people from different backgrounds and experiences. This isn’t optional, it’s crucial to our mission, as we need a wide range of perspectives to challenge our assumptions and shape our browser through a bold, creative lens. With that in mind, we especially encourage women, people of color, and others from historically marginalized groups to apply.

About The Role

As a Product Analyst at The Browser Company, you'll ensure our teams have the insights they need to build the next generation of browsers – focusing on what matters most and learning rapidly from our users. Our Data Team works across logging code, data pipelines, internal tools, product analytics, company prioritization, and growth forecasting to shape the future of browsing. We value a multidisciplinary mindset and seek team members excited to dive into any challenge—whether it's data science, software engineering, product, or growth.

Overall you will...

  • Partner with Product and Marketing to measure, analyze, and optimize the user funnel, delivering insights that accelerate engagement and growth

  • Team up with Engineering and Design to instrument new features and product updates, ensuring we capture the right signals to learn and iterate quickly

  • Champion data across the company by finding creative ways to answer critical questions and accelerate our learning

  • Define strategic metrics to guide company-wide prioritization, keeping teams focused on high-value initiatives

  • Build and maintain data infrastructure that powers our decision-making, enabling easy access and understanding for all teams

Within 1 month you will...

  • Get onboarded onto the team with an onboarding buddy

  • Attend a number of onboarding presentation on how we give each other feedback, the phases a startup goes through, our technical strategy, and more

  • Get familiar with the tools in our data stack, both within our codebase, and third-party tools such as Segment, dbt, BigQuery, and Mode

  • Embed with a product development team and get up to speed on our product development process

  • Build confidence in creating dashboards and pulling data to answer relevant product questions

Within 3 months you will...

  • Be involved in product discussions, asking the right questions and surfacing the relevant data to make sure the team is working on the most impactful things

  • Help your product team evaluate their feature launches so that they can learn and iterate on where development time should be dedicated

  • Be involved in data team discussions about our use of data across the company and how to uphold our standards

  • Help maintain our data infrastructure and tools

  • Regularly post feedback about using Arc in our #dogfooding channel

Within 6 months you will...

  • Be a subject matter expert on experimentation, metric creation, and launch evaluation for product development teams

  • Be familiar with our app architecture and deployment process, so that you can communicate with engineers about the product development lifecycle

  • Develop company-wide guidelines and documentation for how to use data tools

  • Lead initiatives to level up our data infrastructure and analytics capabilities

  • Help grow our team by interviewing candidates and sharing what makes The Browser Company special

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience contributing to high-craft consumer-software products as a data team member

  • You have robust experience with writing SQL and are comfortable with at least one scripting language (Python, R)

  • You can read and navigate a production codebase when necessary to debug or make adjustments to logging

  • You’ve partnered closely with product teams and understand when to bring data in to inform product decisions

  • You can apply advanced statistical methods when rigorous in-depth analyses are called for, but recognize when simple or scrappy data is sufficient to point us in the right direction

  • You’re familiar with end-to-end data engineering stacks with deeper expertise in one or more areas (such as logging, pipelines, data models, documentation and education, or dashboards and internal tools)

  • You are user-focused: you’re curious about user behavior, eager for qualitative and quantitative feedback, and prioritize creating meaningful experiences for our members

  • You're excited to work in a fast-paced startup environment, and you embrace testing and learning quickly to refine the product and internal processes alike

  • Most of our team are based in North American time zones and require that folks have 4+ hours of overlap time with team members in Eastern Time Zone.
