At Vertical Aerospace, we are pioneering the way for electric aviation. The VX4, our eVTOL (electric, vertical, take-off and landing), ‘zero emissions’ aircraft will set a new safety standard for how we will navigate the sky.

We won’t realise our mission following the same legacy processes and traditions our predecessors followed, instead, we want to ‘redefine’ aerospace best practices.

We are growing quickly from a prototype business to a scaling SME, and the next few years will be critical to our success and delivering on our ambitious goals of having the VX4 in service by 2030.

What to expect

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Product Owner responsible for leading the development of internal digital tools that support our engineering and business functions. This is a unique opportunity to shape the digital backbone that enables the development of one of the most exciting aerospace ventures of our time. An example of products you’ll be working on is automated integration test facilities, data collection from rigs and aircraft into our data pipelines and how multimodal data is served to the business. You will also be spearheading initiatives in AI tooling such as surrogate modelling, report generation and quality checking.

What you'll do?

1. Own and manage the product backlog for internal digital tools, ensuring alignment with business priorities and strategic goals.

2. Gather, analyse, and define detailed requirements from stakeholders across departments including engineering, manufacturing, and operations.

3. Prioritise product features based on business value, technical complexity, and user impact.

4. Collaborate closely with cross-functional development teams to deliver high-quality, scalable solutions.

5. Define, monitor, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure product success and inform iterative improvement.

6. Act as the voice of the user and clearly communicate product vision, roadmap, and progress to all stakeholders.

What you'll bring

• Proven experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager, or similar role in a software-focused environment.

• Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban.

• Familiarity with the software development lifecycle and key technical concepts, including:

  • Automated testing and CI/CD pipelines

  • Cloud computing paradigms (e.g., AWS, Azure)

  • DevOps practices and tools

  • Database structures and management

  • Graphical User Interface (GUI) design principles

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and align diverse stakeholders.

• Ability to distil complex technical concepts into clear, actionable requirements.

• Strong analytical thinking and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

• An understanding of large-scale engineering product lifecycles—particularly in aerospace, automotive, rail, or space industries—is highly desirable.
