American Express National Bank (AENB) is American Express’ U.S. banking operation, representing more than 60% of the company’s revenues through consistent payments, financing, and savings products. Led by the Chief Operating Officer, AENB HQ drives the administration of programs and services provided by AENB, in partnership with Bank affiliates and executive officers. In addition, the team is responsible for helping AENB attain all established operational and financial goals as well as ensuring ongoing adherence with laws and regulations governing Bank policies and procedures.
The AENB Strategy and Execution Team includes multiple functions within AENB HQ including AENB Strategic Plan and Bank Products, the Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO), and the AENB Customer Remediation Strategy.
The AENB Strategic Planning team owns strategic planning, projects, and execution for AENB and focuses on enabling American Express to build products and services that are both innovative and compliant with banking regulations.
The AENB Strategic Planning Team is looking for a Manager, Strategic Planning that will be responsible for developing the AENB Strategic Plan annually, ongoing monitoring of performance against the Plan, as well as guiding products through the execution and governance of new products, capabilities, and marketing growth initiatives. They will need to work efficiently and effectively across multiple frontline business units, have strong project management skills, and a strategic and regulatory mindset.
How will you make an impact in this role?
Ensure all products and growth initiatives meet our customer commitments, bank policies, and regulatory requirements and ensure escalation to Bank Committees and Board of Directors, as appropriate.
Actively lead bank approval process, by partnering with various teams including AENB risk pillar SMEs and serve as a single point of contact for our business partners.
Execute a comprehensive roadmap across various business units and staff groups inclusive of all tasks needed to complete the strategic planning process.
Identify potential risks and issues, monitor and report on the status of tasks and milestones, provide timely updates to leadership on progress, challenges, and resolutions across projects.
Coordinate/develop robust presentations for key internal and external audiences.
Support internal coordination of key audits and examinations and ensure all requests are addressed in a timely manner with inputs from all related stakeholders.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders and business partners.
Minimum Qualifications
4+ year proven experience relevant to this role.
Exceptional project management skills, including the ability to clearly advise on progress, roadblocks, and successfully drive project progress with superior organizational & follow-through of open items.
Strong learning agility and ability to work across the business partners in a productive and efficient manner.
Strong communication skills including being able to distill complex concepts and/or efforts in a concise yet comprehensive manner.
Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail.
Ability to build strong relationships with all band levels and work effectively in a collaborative, multi-cultural, team environment.
Ability to prioritize multiple work streams under time constraints, respond quickly, manage deadlines, and manage changing priorities in a dynamic and very demanding environment while leading with limited direct authority.
Strong change management and relationship management skills, with the ability to successfully enlist the help of others without direct reporting lines and influence business leaders and partners without authority in a matrixed organization.
Impeccable integrity with the ability to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
Proficient in SharePoint, PowerPoint, Word and Excel

Experience in regulatory, risk management, compliance, audit or new product management
Bachelor’s Degree
Salary Range: $80,000.00 to $155,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
