To learn more, visit www.associaonline.com.Job DescriptionThe Accounting Director is an onsite role in Gaithersburg, MD, overseeing financials for multiple HOA and Condo associations. This includes overseeing daily accounting operations, monthly closings, preparing monthly profit and loss statements, maintaining Balance Sheet schedules and subsidiary ledgers.This is a great opportunity for a Bookkeeper, Senior or Staff Accountant who is looking for the next step in their career development.Daily tasks:• Applies principles of modified accrual accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports by compiling information, preparing profit and loss statements and utilizing appropriate accounting control procedures.• Reconciles balance sheet accounts, posting adjusting entries when necessary.• Identity, research, resolve and communicate accounting, auditing, and operational issues.• Interacts with external auditors to complete audits of year-end financial statements.• Oversee the posting and maintenance of general ledger accounts, payroll transactions, accounts payable and general ledger adjustments.• Assist Director of Management Services with special projects to facilitate the effective functioning of the Accounting department.• Manage training of staff including preparation of reviews for staff accountants, bookkeepers and other supervisory actions needed.• Other duties as assigned.Pay rate: $75-$80K.Requirements• Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance is required.• 5+ years of general ledger accounting and financial reporting experience, preferably in the property management industry.• Knowledge and proficiency of Finance, Accounting, Budgeting, and Cost Control Principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.• Experience working with Auditors is critical.• Knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) at a proficient level.• Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections.• Self-motivated, detailed-oriented, takes initiative. Ability to multi-task and manage time efficiently. Strong follow through skills.• Excellent communications and interpersonal skills.
