When it comes to delivering world class care for children, Cleveland Clinic believes it’s the little things that make the difference. To ensure that infants, children, and adolescents receive the best outpatient care, Cleveland Clinic Children’s provides patients and families with a network of pediatric services. With over 50 exam rooms divided up into 5 pods/nursing stations, this team supports all pediatric subspecialties and general pediatric patients seen at Main Campus. 


A caregiver in this position works days, 7:00am—7:00pm or 7:00am—3:00pm. 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Provide nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic or therapeutic services to hospitalized patients in various healthcare settings.  

  • Assess patients, complete nursing assessments, document findings in patient records and notify physicians of abnormal findings.  

  • Perform telephone triage and call rotations.  

  • Perform nursing procedures and administer treatments and medications. 

  • Establish care plans in collaboration with patients, families and the health care team.  

  • Coordinate ongoing care, identify discharge needs and facilitate discharge planning.  

  • Evaluate, initiate and maintain standards of care.  

  • Educate patients and families.  

  • Cover other nursing roles in the department.  

 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing  

  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse  

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)  

  • One year of recent experience as an RN  

 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

  • Two years of recent experience as an RN

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.

  • Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.

  • Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range.

  • Requires some exposure to communicable disease or bodily fluids.

  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

  • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
