Your new role: Reporting to the Chief of Staff, the new Head of People (HOP) will create and deliver a People Strategy to support the organisation deliver the company objectives whilst driving a culture people want to be a part of.

DCA has a human capital of over 700 people and is growing every day.  The Head of People will harness and drive a culture which is patient centred, empowers its people, promotes personal accountability, is fair and collaborative and delivers continuous improvement. 

The Head of People will be responsible for creating an environment where people can thrive personally and professionally by ensuring that all people have what they need to accomplish their goals and remain committed to DCA’s vision, mission and values. DCA are currently on an exciting journey centred on product development and growth which can only be unlocked through a capable and motivated team of people. Remit: 5 direct reports

Salary Banding: £70,000 to £80,000 per annum

This position is hybrid, requiring regular travel to the London office, approximately 2-3 days per week.

General

  • Lead, motivate and inspire a team of passionate HR professionals to deliver a trusted, people-centric and commercial HR service to the business.
  • Develop and deliver on the People strategy which is a key enabler of the wider business strategy.
  • Drive the evolution of the DCA culture to support increased engagement, collaboration, a break down in silos and authentic inclusion.
  • Use data and analytics to identify areas of improvement and drive positive change.

Talent

  • Lead the Resourcing Team to develop and deliver the resourcing strategy which will balance meeting the changing needs of the business with attracting the best minds in the industry.
  • Execute the DCA High Performance Strategy to unlock the achievement of DCA’s strategic ambitions through it’s people. This includes evolving the Talent Management experience to ensure our teams are aligned and motivated to work at their best.
  • Lead the Learning and Development Team to enable the future success of DCA by identifying and addressing current and future skills requirements whilst supporting personal and professional career development goals.

Partnering

  • Partner with the Senior Leadership Team to enable the delivery of local objectives through their people.
  • ·Coach and mentor Senior Leaders on Organisational Design to enable successful and cost-effective team structures and appropriately lead change that achieves business objectives but is also people focused.
  • Lead the people business partnering team to provide a credible, people centric and commercially focused people partnering service to the business that focuses on strategic delivery.
  • Drive a positive, inclusive and compliant working culture through ownership and evolution of the DCA People Policy Framework.
  • Be a point of escalation for complex employee relations cases and support and coach other members of the team to reach appropriate outcomes with case management.

People Operations

  • Lead the digital transformation of the people team enabling streamlined and simple processes that supports a great colleague experience using technology and automation.
  • Ownership of colleague compliance framework ensuring all people practices are aligned with legal, statutory and regulatory requirements ensuring this can be evidenced at all stages of the colleague lifecycle.
  • Keeping colleague experience at the heart of the people processes to enable an excellent colleague experience.
  • Develop and execute a total reward strategy that supports the achievement of the strategic objectives including both short and long-term incentives that attract, motivate and retain colleagues.
  • Overall responsibility for monthly colleague payroll.

 

Hopefully a description of you and your experience!:

  • CIPD level 7 or equivalent (or equivalent experience)
  • Proven experience at a senior level leading and inspiring successful HR teams in a people and service focused organisation.
  • Inspiring and motivating leadership style
  • Flexible, adaptable with an ability to ‘work in the grey area’
  • Ability to make decisions that are both people-centric and commercially sound.
  • Strategic understanding and operational delivery of a people agenda and best in class practices covering attraction, recruitment, employee engagement, talent management and learning and development.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of all HR matters including employee relations, reward and benefits.
  • Comprehensive employment law knowledge and experience.
  • Experience partnering with senior leaders to drive the people strategy and business outcomes.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to prioritise effectively.
  • Experience of using people analytics to identify trends and showcase how the team adds value.
  • Up to speed with current HR trends and best practice.
  • Experience of utilising/ optimising technology to enable efficiency and simplicity.
  • Working within a regulated environment would be advantageous.
  • Track record of delivering on culture change is desirable.
