Job Description

We seek a motivated individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment, excels at problem-solving and critical thinking, is confident in oligonucleotide synthesis, and can effectively train others.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Synthesis: Assist in the synthesis of oligonucleotides using automated synthesizers. Follow established protocols and ensure accuracy in reagent preparation and reaction conditions.
  • Purification: Perform purification of oligonucleotides using techniques such as FPLC (Fast Protein Liquid Chromatography) and HPLC (High Performance Liquid Chromatography). Monitor purification processes to achieve high-quality results.
  • Analysis: Analytical assays will be conducted to verify the quality and identity of synthesized oligonucleotides using LC-MS.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed records of experiments, procedures, and results. Ensure all documentation is compliant with company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Lab Maintenance: Contribute to the maintenance of laboratory equipment. Assist in inventory management and ordering of supplies as needed.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with senior chemists and other team members to support ongoing projects. Contribute to problem-solving discussions.

Qualifications

The Ideal Candidate will Have:

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow protocols precisely.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Effective communication skills for collaborating with team members and conveying technical information clearly.
  • Good scientific thinking, initiative, and ability to troubleshoot

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree with 2-6 years of experience OR
  • Master’s degree with 2-3 years of experience OR
  • Hands-on experience performing solid-phase oligonucleotide synthesis and FPLC/HPLC purification
  • Proficient in the operation of automated synthesizers
  • Experienced in the application of LC-MS for analysis of oligonucleotides
  • Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship

  • 45-60 Minute Virtual Interview with Manager and/or Group Leader
  • 45-60 Minute In-Person Meeting over Coffee for a Casual Discussion of the Role

The position is full-time, Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm. Candidates living within a commutable distance of Cambridge, MA and the surrounding areas are encouraged to apply.
