The Opportunity

Flock Safety is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our team. This internship offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced engineering environment. The intern will work alongside experienced engineers on various projects, contributing to design, analysis, testing, and development of mechanical systems and components. This role will provide practical experience and enhance academic learning through real-world applications.

This role is based onsite in our Atlanta, GA office. You can expect to be in the office 3-4 days a week.

  • Assist in the design and development of mechanical systems and components using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.).

  • Perform engineering calculations and analyses, including stress and thermal dynamics.

  • Participate in the testing and evaluation of prototypes and existing products.

  • Assist in the preparation of technical drawings, specifications, and reports.

  • Collaborate with engineers and technicians to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.

  • Support the fabrication and assembly of mechanical components.

  • Maintain accurate records of project activities and data.

  • Assist in the selection of materials and components for mechanical designs.

  • Contribute to design reviews and brainstorming sessions.

The Skillset

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.  

  • Basic understanding of mechanical engineering principles and concepts.

  • Experience in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.) is preferred.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing priorities.  

  • Basic understanding of materials and manufacturing processes.

  • Experience with 3D printers and basic machine shop tools

  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently when needed.

  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail.

The Interview Process

  3. Onsite Interview: Come visit our office and meet some of our Mechanical Engineering team in person!

Salary & Equity

In this role, you’ll receive a hourly rate of 30/hr. Hourly rate is determined by job-related experience, education/training, as well as market indicators. Your recruiter will discuss this in-depth with you during our first chat.

At Flock Safety, we compensate our employees fairly for their work. Base salary is determined by job-related experience, education/training, as well as market indicators.
