Anania & Associates (A&A) is seeking a Vice President of Human Resources to join its team.  Reporting to the President, this role will be a key member of the Portland, Maine based management team as it readies its portfolio, Anania & Associates Investment Co. (AAI), for a successful IPO in 2026. 


Requirements of the Position:
  • 10+ years of related HR experience with at least 5 years in a management role.
  • Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred.
  • Broad generalist background to guide the company in setting strategic direction and developing/implementing operating plans in all areas of HR (compliance, organization development, performance management, talent acquisition, compensation and benefits, employee and labor relations, etc.).
  • Knowledge of HR regulations and compliance requirements for a public company in a multi-state setting; knowledge of international requirements helpful.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability in change management.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work confidently and effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • High degree of professionalism in ensuring discretion and confidentiality.
  • Prior experience with union negotiations and international experience preferred.
  • Ability to travel regularly to AAI’s portfolio company sites (currently in ME, NH, OH, MI and Germany).

  • Salary range starting at $150k; offer commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities of the Position:
  • Leads the planning, development, implementation, administration, and budgeting of the Human Resources functions, including but not limited to the following: employment, recruitment, employee relations, EEO, compensation, benefits, organizational development, and labor relations.
  • Works closely with management team at A&A as well as management of portfolio companies to understand strategy and needs going forward and ensuring that HR programs are aligned to support the strategy.
  • Ensures A&A and AAI adopt competitive practices to attract and retain top talent.
  • Ensures A&A and its portfolio companies are compliant with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Evaluates current HR programs and practices of holding company and portfolio companies to make recommendations to optimize the performance of all entities.
  • Manages the HR staff (currently 4) at the portfolio companies providing clear expectations and supporting performance and professional growth goals.
  • Leads contract negotiations and labor relations issues with small union workforce at one location.
  • Supports A&A in due diligence efforts related to IPO and acquisitions as needed.
