Flatiron Books is seeking a motivated individual for the full-time position of Senior Designer. This person would report to the Art Director and work with the art department, editorial, and production teams to project manage a book jacket from conception to production. Candidates should possess the ability to design various genres and have strong communication and organizational skills.

What you'll do:

Work with Art Director and Editorial to design book jackets and covers
Route mechanicals
Secure rights for imagery and fonts
Attend jacket meetings and production meetings
Communicate with vendors regarding agreements and invoice submissions and troubleshoot issues with vendor paperwork and invoices/ payments
Prepare files for the printer
Designate special effects and converse with production team and printer about proofs
Color correct files
Perform other duties as assigned by the Art Director

What you'll bring:

Ability to design 5-8 covers
Adobe CC (Photoshop, Indesign, Illustrator)
Strong understanding of typefaces and typography
Strong communication skills
Strong organizational skills
Ability to work within a team
Ability to problem solve
Time management skills

Ideal Experience:

5+ years of design experience, preferably in publishing
Proficient in Adobe CC

This role will have an annual salary of $71,225 - $80,000.
