WHAT YOU’LL DO

We are looking for a news savvy, highly organized Managing Editor with a background in law who will manage the production, workflow, and the day-to-day operations of projects across CAFE, including audio and written content. The role comes with a range of responsibilities, including overseeing production processes and providing editorial feedback and guidance to internal teams. As a Managing Editor you’ll have the opportunity to steer the future of CAFE’s content and shape conversations about some of the most important issues of law, policy, and democracy. 

Responsibilities:

• Oversee and manage the day-to-day operations and programming across CAFE’s portfolio of podcasts, from concept development to final release.
• Review scripts, articles, and other editorial and promotional copy and provide substantive edits to improve clarity, flow, and overall cohere and to ensure that all written materials are accurate and adhere to brand and editorial standards.
• Research and prep segments and book guests for the Stay Tuned with Preet and CAFE Insider podcasts.
• Collaborate with producers and hosts to develop and produce special podcast series. 
• Coordinate with marketing and PR teams to promote new and existing podcasts.
• Manage a production team and support your direct reports’ skill development

WHO YOU ARE

• A law degree or experience reporting on legal news
• Media experience
• Management experience
• Passion for news at the intersection of law and politics
• Strong editorial judgment 
• Superior research, writing, editing, and storytelling abilities
• Strong ability to coordinate, plan, and juggle multiple projects 
• Familiarity with audio production and creative show development
• A sense of humor

This job is remote. PAY TRANSPARENCY

The salary range listed below represents the minimum and maximum base pay for this position at the time of this posting. Final salary offered to the candidate selected for the position will be based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience.

$104,000—$180,000 USD
