Team Lead (Storage Team)

Neon’s storage engineering team builds the foundational data services for our serverless PostgreSQL platform. Running 24/7 in locations around the globe, with over a million databases under management, these systems present exciting challenges in scale and efficiency.

With unique features such as a fine-grained history of database transactions and a git-like CoW branching capability, working on Neon storage is a unique opportunity for a leader who thrives on building high performance systems at scale.

You Will:

  • Lead a team of talented engineers

  • Combine technical expertise with project and team management skills

  • Be responsible for the overall success of the team

What we’re looking for:

  • 2+ years experience in a technical leadership role

  • 5+ years experience as a developer, with expert knowledge of a systems programming language such as C++ or Rust.

  • Strong mentoring skills, high emotional intelligence, and exceptional prioritization abilities.

  • Experience building complex systems where correctness and performance are essential, such as databases, message brokers, operating systems, filesystems, etc.

  • Experience running 24/7 production services (either SaaS or on-prem)

  • Experience working successfully in fully remote or hybrid teams

  • Excellent communication in English

Bonus points for experience with:

  • Development of postgres or similar OLTP database products

  • Working as an Engineering Manager with people management responsibility.
