Who We Are Looking For?

We’re looking for a precise and thoughtful Technical Editor (Software Documentation) to take ownership of the documentation for our in-house software. You’ll collaborate with developers and technical teams to ensure complex information is communicated clearly and consistently. The documentation may support a variety of audiences — from internal teams to partners or end users — depending on the product.

In addition to creating new content, you’ll also work with existing and legacy documentation — identifying gaps, improving structure and clarity, and ensuring technical accuracy. You may help refine tone and terminology for consistency across teams and platforms. In some cases, you’ll translate or adapt German-language materials into clear, professional English, so strong German reading comprehension is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Write, edit, and structure technical documentation for software developed in-house.

  • Collaborate with engineering and product teams to gather accurate technical information

  • Translate complex concepts into clear, accessible documentation for both technical and semi-technical readers

  • Review and improve existing documentation, including legacy materials

  • Translate or adapt German documentation into clear, professional English

  • Ensure consistency in tone, formatting, and terminology

  • Continuously review and improve documentation based on updates, feedback, or evolving needs

  • Organize content to make it easy to navigate and search, ensuring a logical flow and good information architecture

Requirements:

  • Proven experience writing or editing technical documentation for software products

  • Strong understanding of how software is built and used — especially from a developer or technical user perspective

  • Ability to read and understand source code, APIs, and developer workflows

  • Fluent in English, with at least intermediate German comprehension and communication skills (B1 or higher)

  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills

  • Experience working with Markdown, Git, and version-controlled documentation workflows (e.g. Docusaurus, ReadTheDocs, Confluence, etc.)

  • Excellent attention to detail, grammar, and clarity

  • Comfortable working in Agile teams and across time zones

Nice to Have:

  • Proven experience writing or editing technical documentation for software products

  • Background in computer science, software development, or a technical field

  • Experience working in remote-first environments

  • Familiarity with UX writing or user-centered design

  • Professional working proficiency or fluency in German

Embark on your SPACE44 journey with a few simple steps:

  • Hireflix Chat (20 min): Share how you work and what matters most to you

  • HR Sync (45 min): Connect your experience with our goals

  • Psychometric Insight: Take a 1-hour assessment exploring your strengths and working style

  • CEO Interview: A final discussion with our CEO to align on vision and expectations

Benefits

  • Flexible Work Schedule: Enjoy a non-linear workday designed to enhance productivity and maintain a harmonious work-life balance, with core hours for team collaboration.

  • Professional Growth: Access advanced training opportunities in data science and machine learning to boost your career prospects.

  • Innovative Projects and Tools: Engage in cutting-edge projects using the latest tools and technologies within a progressive remote work environment.

  • Entrepreneurial Insights: Gain valuable entrepreneurial insights by working closely with the CEO in a small team, fostering eye-level collaboration.

  • Competitive Income: Receive a competitive income with regular performance reviews and potential raises every six months.

  • Global Team Dynamics: Collaborate with a diverse, international team that values openness and teamwork.
