Job Description

This role drives sales strategy and aligns solutions to boost payment volume and revenue for one of Visa’s largest U.S. financial institution clients. Key responsibilities include creating and executing growth opportunities, expanding existing portfolios with Account Executives, and identifying new payment flows. The role involves partnering with Visa teams and industry partners to deliver innovative solutions and products, many of which will include custom features within the client’s tech environment. Additionally, it requires providing operational and client insights for effective implementation.

The selected individual will work closely with Visa Commercial and Money Movement Solutions, Value-Added Services Business, Global and North America Product teams, Finance, Visa Consulting & Analytics, Marketing Services, and technical experts. They will lead major projects, support customized integration solutions, enhance strategic value for the client, and strengthen relationships.

The individual must manage large-scale projects and act as the key communication link for technical sales teams. Strong organizational, interpersonal, and negotiation skills are essential. Visa seeks an experienced professional in payments strategy, comfortable with ambiguity and tight timelines in a complex environment. This role reports to the Head of Financial Institutions Sales for a national account.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned leader in senior sales, technical sales, and business development within the payments ecosystem. They have executive-level relationships with banking clients and experience with card and non-card payment flows and other commercial and treasury payment solutions. The role demands strategic leadership, innovation, collaboration, and creative problem-solving skills in a technical environment. The candidate should have a proven track record of building partnerships and excelling in solution selling with a deep understanding of payments and related technologies. They should be creative, action-oriented, and able to inspire others with their vision.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Lead payments strategy for this account with internal Visa stakeholders and the client's team, driving the agenda with cross-functional teams.
  • Identify strategic opportunities by understanding client needs, and implement innovative solutions.
  • Manage key projects related to the client's payments vision and strategy on Visa products, flows, platforms, and solutions, while developing relationships with management and decision-makers.
  • Monitor trends and competitor actions to develop and implement proactive strategies for the client.
  • Partner with lead Account Executives and other business partners, while driving and owning the sales and strategy for key solutions, flows, and platform integration.
  • Focus on execution and deliverables with a proven record of exceeding goals.
  • Influence the client’s vision for electronic payments to align with Visa’s.
  • Continuously review client strategies and market landscapes to recommend, develop, and implement new approaches to meet business objectives.

 

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications: 

  • 10 years of experience with a bachelor’s degree, or 8 years with an advanced degree (e.g., Master's, MBA, JD, MD, PhD)

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • 12-15+ years of relevant business development experience, preferably in payments
  • Understanding of payment systems (e.g., card networks, Wires, ACH, RTP, digital wallets, money movement, treasury solutions, co-brand development, acquiring solutions, debit, credit, small business). Experience with issuers, networks, processors, or key merchant partners
  • Proven sales leader with a track record of delivering results and structuring financial partnerships
  • Strong customer-facing communication skills and technical aptitude adept at managing relationships and explaining complex business and technical concepts
  • Natural collaborator with excellent communication skills and strong executive presence self-motivated and comfortable with ambiguity, able to influence across multiple levels
  • Superior strategic, problem-solving, and analytical skills, capable of communicating a vision
  • Previous consulting experience (preferably in technology) is a plus
  • Demonstrated thought leadership and the ability to challenge the status quo
  • Bachelor’s Degree MBA or advanced degree highly desirable

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 173,100.00 to 250,900.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity. Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401 (k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.
