Your career is an investment that grows over time!

Wealthsimple is on a mission to help everyone achieve financial freedom by reimagining what it means to manage your money. Using smart technology, we take financial services that are often confusing, opaque and expensive and make them transparent and low-cost for everyone. We’re the largest fintech company in Canada, with over 4 million users who trust us with more than $50 billion in assets.

Our teams ship often and make an impact with groundbreaking ideas. We're looking for talented people who keep it simple and value collaboration and humility as we continue to create inclusive and high-performing teams where people can be inspired to do their best work.

About the role

We’re looking for a Senior Motion Designer to craft compelling motion assets that bring Wealthsimple’s brand and products to life across in-app experiences, marketing campaigns, and lifecycle communications. You’ll collaborate with Product Marketing, Lifecycle Marketing, and Product Design to create animations that enhance storytelling, drive engagement, and improve user understanding. Your work will play a key role in shaping seasonal release campaigns, new features, and product functionality, helping users connect with and get excited about what’s next. As a key creative voice, you’ll have the opportunity to push the boundaries of motion design, evolve our visual language, and influence how we communicate Wealthsimple’s product vision across all platforms.

What you’ll own:
  • Lead motion design for key campaigns, including product launches and bi-annual season product releases.
  • Design and animate in-app assets like launch modals and marketing cards to highlight new features.
  • Create motion-enhanced email templates and assets to engage and educate users.
  • Produce demo videos for go-to-market efforts, sales, and marketing.
  • Develop motion prototypes and storyboards to communicate concepts and gain stakeholder buy-in.
  • Partner with Product Marketing, designers, and engineers to implement motion seamlessly across platforms, ensuring high performance and visual quality on web, mobile, and email.
  • Push creative boundaries while ensuring brand consistency, evolving Wealthsimple’s motion language to level up our product storytelling across marketing and in-product surfaces.
  • Be a key creative voice on the team, helping to establish a clear and compelling vision that energizes and aligns cross-functional partners.
  • Own your work with attention to detail and accountability.
  • Explore new tools, techniques, and innovations at the intersection of technology and creativity.

What you bring:
  • A portfolio showcasing strong conceptual thinking, motion design, and digital storytelling across various touchpoints, including app, social, and web.
  • Deep understanding of design fundamentals—typography, layout, hierarchy, color, and composition—applied in interactive and digital experiences.
  • Strong visual design and communication skills with the ability to craft compelling experiences and articulate the story behind them.
  • Awareness of emerging trends and innovations in digital and interactive design, with a pulse on what’s next.
  • Ability to immerse in a brand, ensuring motion and design align with its identity and engage the audience effectively.
  • Brings energy, initiative, and strong prioritization skills to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Experience working closely with product and marketing teams to bring campaigns and product narratives to life.
  • Proficiency in Figma, After Effects, and Adobe Creative Suite—Cinema 4D and Blender are a plus.
