Job Description

Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the Payroll Specialist, is responsible for processing payroll for over 400 employees across multiple states on a bi-weekly schedule. 

What you're responsible for: 

  • Establishing, maintaining and processing employee records and ensuring that employee changes are entered correctly and made on a timely basis. 
  • Reviewing changes for proper authorization and adherence in compliance with federal/state/local regulations.
  • Verifying transactions prior to payroll transmission.
  • Handling the administration of the electronic timekeeping and Payroll system.
  • Finalizing employee’s file.
  • Completing information requests by different Government Agencies.
  • Preparing various reports through the report generator, as requested.
  • Preparing bi-weekly payroll reports and submits the necessary information to accounting, benefits to HR.
  • Collaborating efforts between payroll, human resources, finance, and other departments to ensure proper flow and maintenance of employee data.

Qualifications

To be successful: 

  • You have a high level of knowledge of wage and hour laws
  • You have a high level of knowledge of payroll taxation laws in multiple states.
  • You have Good knowledge of Word, Excel etc.
  • You have thoroughness and discretion are required for the position.
  • You have good communication skills.
  • You have knowledge of the relevant payroll and TAA software (e.g. ADP, Paychex, Ceridian Dayforce)
  • You have system implementation experience
  • You have proven experience in a payroll position in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • 5+ years of full cycle payroll experience 
  • You are bilingual: English and Spanish is considered an asset. 
  • Exposure to benefits, workers compensation and 401k considered an asset.
  • Ability to work automatously
