What you will be responsible for:
The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for processing payroll for all employees, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The ideal candidate will have experience in payroll processing, a strong understanding of wage laws, and excellent organizational skills.
What You'll Do:
Process weekly and semi-monthly payroll for all employees, including salaried and hourly workers.
Ensure accuracy in timesheets, deductions, and payroll calculations.
Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws.
Handle payroll taxes, garnishments, benefits deductions, workers’ compensation, and other payroll-related reports and adjustments.
Prepare and submit payroll reports to management.
Reconcile payroll accounts and assist with audits as necessary.
Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll and resolve discrepancies.
Collaborate with HR and accounting teams to ensure smooth payroll operations.
Stay updated on changes in payroll laws and best practices.
Set up and maintain employee personnel files.
Assist with registration in new states, as needed.
Skills & Qualifications:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
3+ years of payroll processing experience, preferably in the construction or manufacturing industry.
Proficiency in using various payroll platforms. NetSuite preferred.
Strong knowledge of California and multi-state payroll laws, wage and hour regulations, and tax requirements.
Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
