About This Role

As the Director of Grooming Operations, you will be a key leader in shaping the future of Barkbus. This is a dynamic role that blends strategic leadership with operational oversight, requiring an experienced, innovative, and passionate leader. You will oversee multiple territories, lead and inspire regional Grooming Operations Managers (GOMs), and ensure the seamless delivery of Barkbus’s world-class grooming services.

This role requires a sharp business mind, a customer-first approach, and a deep understanding of operational excellence. You will help scale our teams, innovate processes, and uphold the highest grooming and customer experience standards, all while contributing to Barkbus’s rapid national expansion.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute the grooming operations strategy to support Barkbus’s scaling objectives and entry into new markets.

  • Partner with the executive team to drive long-term business growth and ensure operational alignment with organizational goals.

  • Identify opportunities to enhance processes and technology to elevate operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Team Building & Leadership

  • Build and oversee a team of Grooming Operations Managers across multiple territories, supporting and empowering them to meet and exceed performance goals.

  • Foster a culture of accountability, resilience, and collaboration, rooted in Barkbus’s Core Values.

  • Champion professional growth by collaborating in the design of training and development programs that enhance and foster retention among Pet Stylists in your markets.

Operational Excellence

  • Drive key performance indicators (KPIs), such as safety, efficiency, stylist productivity, rebooking rates, and customer satisfaction, ensuring consistency across regions.

  • Oversee inventory management and operational readiness across all territories to support a seamless customer experience.

  • Leverage data to monitor performance trends, identify improvement opportunities, and implement corrective actions proactively.

  • Drive operational excellence by overseeing P&L management, ensuring financial accountability, optimizing resource allocation, and achieving sustainable profitability.

Customer Experience Leadership

  • Act as the voice of the customer within the leadership team, ensuring customer insights shape operations and service offerings.

  • Lead the resolution of escalations and high-priority issues, maintaining Barkbus’s reputation for exceptional service.

  • Experience managing leaders and teams of 50+ across multiple locations or territories.

  • Strong business acumen, including P&L management, forecasting, and budget oversight.

  • Expertise in employee performance management and operational process improvement.

  • Familiarity with SaaS platforms or mobile service operations is a strong plus.

  • Passion for pets and a deep understanding of the customer service industry.
