Risk Specialist, Registered Nurse

Risk Specialist Location: Foundation, Risk Mgt and Internal Audit Status: Full Time, 40 Hours per week Shift: Days

SALARY RANGE: 67,891.20 - 110,947.20YEARLY

General Summary: The Risk & Loss Specialist will perform a variety of risk management activities with emphasis on safety event response, proactive risk identification and mitigation, safety data management; to include creating and providing reports and information to all levels and areas of the organization, and facilitation of education of Bayhealth staff and the Integrated Medical Staff geared toward the identification and mitigation of risk and loss to the organization. Responsibilities:
  1. Responds to reports of serious safety events (SSE) as needed to restore safety of the situation, assess and document resulting damages and/or injuries, sequester and/or collect relevant equipment/ materials, and to facilitate debriefing with involved team members.
  2. Documents information relevant to the event and performs necessary investigation and follow-up.
  3. Works with Risk Analyst to ensure that timeline and details of event are consistent with known information.
  4. Participates in Root Cause Analysis or other risk analysis/performance improvement activities related to events, trends, or safety concerns.
  5. Participates in periodic Legal/Risk Rounds to assess opportunities to improve safety.
  6. Develops and presents educational and/or informational experiences for members at all levels of the organization.
  7. Is proficient with data analysis and report development with respect to Bayhealth's safety event reporting system.
  8. Supports Risk Analysts in processing event report data.
  9. Acts as back-up to Senior Director with respect to managing Patient Safety Work Product (PSWP), to include reporting events to, and managing information received from, the Patient Safety Organization (PSO).
  10. Participates in Risk Management call schedule, with a requirement to take call outside of normal business hours to assist
  11. All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities.
Required Education, Credential(s) and Experience: Education:
  • Bachelor Degree Nursing (BSN)
Credential(s): Certified Prof. in Healthcare Risk Mgt within 1 year of hire Registered Nurse (RN) ; Experience: Required: 5 years of experience in risk management, data analytics, clinical investigation/forensics.
