Data Management Analyst I/II

Job Summary

The Data Management Analyst I provides technical support for new and existing technologies for the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP) Supports, develops, and maintains administrative data and reporting requirements and online resources.

Job Description

Typical duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Collects, analyzes, and interprets administrative data for the ORSP.
  • Assists with the implementation and ongoing support of new technologies.
  • Implements decisions to accomplish departmental goals and objectives in accordance to federal, state or university laws, rules, regulations and policies.
  • Collects, summarizes, and/or analyzes data in preparation for generation of statistical and analytical reports and data driven decision making.
  • Assists ORSP with required reporting for grants and sponsored programs.
  • Supports data reporting needs from other departments affiliated with ORSP as assigned by supervisor.
  • Develops, documents, and maintains processes and procedures for data quality and integrity.
  • Ensures compliance with guidelines for statistical reporting, analysis, and predictions governed by unit procedures, processes, and manuals.
  • Collaborates with other institutional departments to create and maintain ORSP data standards and reporting.

Other Duties:

  • Performs other administrative duties as assigned to support department meetings and ORSP events.
  • Represents the department on assigned projects.
  • Attends and supports department events.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Additional Job Description

Minimum Requirements for a Data Management Analyst Level I:

  • This position requires either six years of directly related full-time experience or, as an alternative, a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of full-time experience directly related to the job functions.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) with proficiency.
  • Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.

  • Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) with proficiency.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of and ability to learn dynamic web technologies, reporting tools, and reporting and presentation software.
  • Knowledge of and ability to learn Workday and Streamlyne systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to create and analyze internal and external reports, develop efficient procedures to accomplish tasks, and provide training on those procedures.
  • Ability to perform data collection; and compile, analyze, and assemble interpretation of results.
  • Ability to receive and process confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
  • Ability to work effectively across University departments in a professional manner with various constituents and staff.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and interactive group environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Ability to interpret laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to understand and apply a systemic approach to problem solving and process improvement.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team.

Data Management Analyst Level I- Pay Grade 16

Data Management Analyst Level II- Pay Grade 17

Applicants will be evaluated for roles as either Data Management Analyst I or Data Management Analyst II based on their qualifications.
