Head of Data - FinTech

About the Role

As the Head of Data, you will spearhead our data strategy and AI initiatives, ensuring alignment with business objectives. You will own the data platform, lead AI R&D, and act as a strategic partner to cross-functional teams, transforming data into actionable insights. This role demands a blend of technical expertise, leadership, and stakeholder management to foster a data-centric culture across global operations. We look forward to having you join our dynamic team.

What you need to do

  • Data Strategy & Governance  
    • Develop and execute a data strategy aligned with business goals.  
    • Implement robust data governance frameworks, ensuring compliance and quality.  
    • Establish policies for data management, security, and privacy. 
  • Data Platform Ownership  
    • Oversee the data warehouse, big data platforms (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Dataworks), and ETL processes.  
    • Ensure scalability, reliability, and efficiency of data infrastructure.  
    • Collaborate with IT to optimize cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP/AliCloud). 
  • AI R&D Leadership  
    • Drive AI/ML innovation in lending, risk management, and operational automation.  
    • Identify use cases, prototype solutions, and deploy models into production.  
    • Promote an AI-first mindset through training and cross-team collaboration. 
  • Stakeholder Partnership  
    • Act as a Data Business Partner for Sales, Product, Credit, Finance, and Operations.  
    • Translate business needs into technical requirements, architecture design, and project roadmaps.  
    • Manage stakeholder expectations and deliver data solutions on time. 
  • Team Leadership & Agile Execution  
    • Lead data engineers, scientists, and analysts, fostering a culture of innovation.  
    • Implement agile methodologies to prioritize tasks and accelerate delivery.  
    • Coordinate with global IT teams for development, testing, and maintenance. 
  • Global Expansion Support  
    • Design data architectures that support multi-regional scalability.  
    • Address regulatory and cultural challenges in new markets.
  • Education: Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, or related field.  
  • Experience: 12+ years in data management, with 5+ years in leadership roles at internet/lending/fintech companies.  
  • Technical Skills: Expertise in data architecture, big data technologies, AI/ML frameworks and cloud platforms.  
  • Agile Proficiency: Certified Scrum Master or proven experience in agile environments.  
  • Languages: Fluency in Cantonese/Mandarin, and English (written and verbal).  
  • Soft Skills: Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and stakeholder management.
