Staff Scientist (Senior Manager), Assay & Process Development

About Glyphic:

At Glyphic Biotechnologies, we plan to create the protein revolution for which scientists and researchers have been waiting. We are developing a massively parallel, single-molecule proteome sequencing platform that will transform life science discovery and usher in a new era of insights into human biology and disease. What we are looking for in you:

Glyphic is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assay & Process Development Scientist to design, develop, and optimize assays that leverage our cutting-edge single molecule proteome sequencing platform. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in assay development, DNA & protein biochemistry, NGS, and instrumentation, and be eager to contribute to transformative advances in proteomics. The scientist will work with a cross-disciplinary team of chemists, biologists, engineers, and bio-informaticians to rapidly deliver consistent results and insights that accelerate the development cycle.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and optimize assays for single molecule protein sequencing, ensuring high sensitivity, specificity, and reproducibility. 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including chemistry, bioinformatics, engineering, and product development to integrate assay workflows with technological advancements.

  • Analyze complex experimental data, generate detailed reports, and provide actionable insights to guide further development.

  • Utilize statistical methods and data visualization tools to interpret assay performance and ensure rigorous quality control.

  • Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation of experimental protocols, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and results.

  • Drive innovation in assay design and contribute to intellectual property development. 

  • Develop domain expertise in next generation protein sequencing.

Required Competencies:

  • Degree in biology, chemistry, or related field, PhD preferred

  • 6+ years of experience in assay/process development and validation, with emphasis in proteomics, genomics, or related areas

  • Comprehensive knowledge about nucleic acids biochemistry and bioconjugation

  • Experience in lab methods, such as PCR, electrophoresis, cytometry, NGS library preparation, and nanopore sequencing.

  • Experience with transferring  manual assays onto engineering prototypes or commercial robotic platforms

  • Experience in  development of a commercial product, a plus

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document experiments clearly and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

  • Experience  in data analysis software

  • Experience in  statistical and DOE software

  • Adapts to fast-paced environments with changing priorities and responsibilities.
