Good Harvest Market, Waukesha County's largest independently owned natural and organic grocer, is currently seeking to hire a  full-time Meat Manager. Most shifts will start early at (6am-9am), but this role must also be able to cover closing shifts when needed as well. The latest our meat department closes is 7pm.


The ability to provide quality customer service is a priority in our business. The right candidate for this role will enjoy working with people and have a minimum of 2 years retail meat cutting experience, with a preference for  5+ years. A minimum of 3 years retail management experience is required. Current meat managers and experienced meat cutters with  advanced experience (ordering, merchandising, scheduling) are encouraged to apply for this leadership role. Starting wage range is negotiable based on experience.


The Meat Manager is responsible for leading  and training all members and operations of the meat & seafood  department, keeping the department well stocked with products that meet our strict quality standards, writing weekly schedules within a set  labor budget, developing team members, ordering and managing inventory and pricing margins, delighting our customers with high quality product options, and keeping the department safe and clean.


Our meat department combines an old-school friendly neighborhood butcher feel with a focus on humanely raised, grass-fed and pasture raised meats and sustainably sourced seafood.

Duties of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • providing exceptional customer service
  • managing a team of cutters and clerks
  • ensuring our quality standards are maintained or exceeded at all times
  • cutting and wrapping a variety of fresh meats and seafood
  • stocking, rotating, and properly dating and maintaining inventory
  • ensuring  the department equipment is in good and working condition,  communicating immediately with upper management when any issues with the  equipment arise
  • cleaning the department

Requirements

 Requirements for this position:

  • a minimum of 2 years retail meat cutting experience required
  • a minimum of 3 years management experience required
  • knowledge of different cuts and cooking techniques for meat and seafood
  • must be 18+ years old
  • ability to lift 70 lbs (can be a physical position)
  • ability to work in varying temperatures (frequently working in cold and damp conditions)
  • ability to maintain reliable and regular attendance
  • ability to speak, read, and write English fluently
  • basic to intermediate skills using Microsoft Word & Excel
  • open availability, mainly daytime but must be flexible as needed
  • a passion for providing natural and organic options to our community and a desire to continuously learn more about our industry
