Job Description

Anticipated contract length/Duration: 12 months

Our client, a leading healthcare consulting firm, is seeking a skilled Medical Writer to join their Scientific Services team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality content, including manuscripts, posters, abstracts, slide decks, and other project types, while adhering to project specifications, timelines, and budgets.

The ideal candidate should have the ability to quickly understand and assimilate complex information across unfamiliar therapy areas, developing a variety of materials within strict deadlines and defined project scopes. Strong teamwork and effective communication skills are essential for success in this role.

What you will do:

Scientific content development

  • Research, write and revise high-quality, original editorial content across a range of project types:
    - within the specified number of hours and to agreed timelines 
    - according to the brief (including length and style and appropriate messaging)
    - with correct use of English
    - with scientifically accurate content 
  • Continuously comply with the organisation’s standard policies and procedures, including ethical standards.
  • Orchestrate multiple activities at once to accomplish a goal and juggle multiple projects and multiple deadlines by using time efficiently.
  • Working effectively with the internal account team to ensure projects are delivered on time and on budget 
    - assesses each project to proactively identify areas that will require assistance from others (i.e. graphic design, editorial support); ability to elicit help as needed
    - keep the Project team and Manager apprised of project(s) status and challenges encountered during the project

Client relationship and business development 

  • Liaising with clients, authors, speakers, and colleagues professionally and with confidence, always being on top of their projects

  • Ability to interact in work of other teams.

Qualifications

  • BSc or higher degree in the Life Sciences.
  • A Master’s or PhD may be desirable but is not required.
  • Minimum 2 - 3 years of experience in medical writing, scientific communications, or related fields.
  • Proven ability to interpret and synthesise complex scientific data for a variety of audiences.
  • Experience working in healthcare, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, or a medical communications agency is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with referencing software such as EndNote or Zotero.
  • Experience with data visualisation tools and techniques is desirable.
  • Exceptional writing, editing and proofreading skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to adapt writing style for different formats, including manuscripts, slide decks, reports, and digital content.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce accurate, clear, and concise documents under tight deadlines.
  • Strong ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including Medical, Marketing, and Research professionals.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, healthcare systems, and scientific literature.
  • Understanding of evidence-based medicine and clinical trial processes.
  • Awareness of relevant regulations, including FDA, EMA, and ICMJE guidelines, is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex scientific concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and compliance.
