Job Description

The Senior Data Steward executes on the defined data strategy and roadmaps to improve the quality, availability, and usability of their respective domain data. They develop a strong understanding of their data domain, including both how it is produced and consumed and how to apply strategy and practices to drive data capabilities forward. All work is done in partnership with business and technology stakeholders to ensure consistency of services and deliverables. They perform complex “hands-on-keys” work to identify, research, and remediate data quality issues, create processes to prevent recurrence, and measure continual improvement in data quality.

The Senior Data Steward is crucial to enable and track progress against Invesco’s strategy – "Trustworthy data is foundational to deliver a superior investment and client experience".

You will be responsible for:

  • Provide support for various Data Domains, initially focusing on ESG data
  • Consistently make proactive suggestions regarding product usability, presentation, and data quality.
  • Responsible for the integrity of data and runs day-to-day activities necessary to produce, validate, and deliver quality data to consuming functions and systems.
  • Proactively identifies, escalates, and resolves data issues.
  • Perform initial triage/research for data issues and escalate/route as necessary.
  • Provide insights regarding themes around issues and errors and propose solutions.
  • Working closely with Data Product Owners, provide Data Analysis support for various development and research efforts.
  • Proactively analyze data to answer key questions for stakeholders, with an eye on what drives business performance, and investigate and communicate which areas need improvement in efficiency and productivity.
  • Defines, standardizes, measures, and monitors data quality metrics. Develops reports/dashboards that enable data quality health checks by senior leaders.
  • Provide reporting of start of day data quality checks and track issue resolution.
  • Identify CDEs and maintain the data dictionary, aligning consumers to a standardized set of fields and definitions.
  • Provide business analysis and bridge the domain gap between functional teams and technology teams with solutions.
  • Work closely with Data Product owners to understand and maintain focus on their analytics needs, including critical metrics and KPIs, and deliver actionable insights to relevant decision-makers.
  • Build complex queries, analyze the data, and build logical comparisons and data aggregations using SQL and provide processed information to clients.

The experience you bring:

  • 6-7 years relevant experience
  • BA/BS in a relevant field. MBA Preferred
  • Effectively manages multiple responsibilities, demonstrates initiative, and meets deadlines.
  • Solid understanding of desk top tools and ability to leverage for analytic and communication purposes.
  • Skilled at dealing with ambiguity and exercising independent judgement consistent with departmental goals.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advance level SQL. MS Excel and PowerBI skills required.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Knowledge of data, analysis, and processes related to various asset classes and products.
  • Technical and business background with experience in investments data; specifically, asset management and/or financial services industry data is a plus.
  • Client-first mindset.
  • Purposeful and execution-oriented who sets bar high for self and team.
  • Good relationship-building skills fostering diversity of thought, empowerment, and accountability.
  • Leader who has consistently demonstrated empathy, support, and ability to attract/develop/retain talent.
  • Good understanding and utilization of data, insights, and analytics in functional area work.

  • Good communication and organizational skills with ability to manage time and priorities effectively.
