We are looking for a visionary leader ready to define and deliver the next generation of data and AI strategy in a global, innovation-focused organisation At LGC, we're on a digital transformation journey — and we’re looking for a Head of Data & AI to lead the way!

In this high-impact role, we are looking for someone to shape the future of our data infrastructure, drive enterprise AI adoption, and build a culture where data-driven thinking is embedded across every function — from Life Sciences to Legal, HR, Compliance, and IT.

What You’ll Do

As part of the leadership team, you will:

  • Define and implement a comprehensive roadmap for enterprise-wide data and AI maturity
  • Own the design of scalable architecture to power analytics, automation, and AI innovation
  • Champion a modern data governance framework, embedding quality, security, and stewardship
  • Lead all aspects of the delivery of AI use cases, from POC to scalable enterprise adoption
  • Mentor and grow a cross-functional team of engineers, scientists, analysts, and architects
  • Collaborate across functions to translate technical vision into business outcomes
  • Evaluate and invest in emerging technologies to future-proof our data capabilities
  • Ensure all initiatives align with ethical, compliant, and responsible AI practices

Qualifications

What You’ll Bring

We're looking for a rare mix of critical thinking and technical expertise, including:

  • A Master's or PhD in Data Science, AI, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 7+ years in analytics, data science, or AI, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role
  • Demonstrated success in leading enterprise-scale data and AI programs
  • Deep understanding of data governance, privacy regulations, and responsible AI practices
  • Strong technical knowledge in cloud platforms (AWS or Azure), machine learning, and modern data architecture
  • Excellent communication and influence skills — especially at C-level
  • A collaborative attitude with a consistent track record to lead cross-functional teams and change initiatives
