Job Description:

HVAC Control Technician

The Controls Technician position at Louisiana State University performs tasks related to the installation, repair, calibration, modification, and optimization of various instrumentation and control systems as a member of the Energy Management Group. 

Job Duties:

Perform installation, repair, calibration, modification, and optimization of building automation and utility monitoring instrumentation.-30%

Utilize the campus work order system, FAMIS, to respond to issues assigned to the Energy Management Group. -20%

Perform test and balance as required to calibrate, modify and optimize HVAC-R systems.-20%

Perform functionality tests of HVAC-R systems and its components. -20%

Performs other duties as assigned by the Department including on-call and emergency work when required. - 10%

Additional Requirements:

  • This position requires a valid driver's license, will require an MVR, and is subject to drug screens per PM-33/PS-67/FASOP HR-04.
  • This position is classified as a safety and security-sensitive position. These positions are subject to drug screens per PS-67/FASOP HR-04.

  • This position is considered emergency essential and may be required to report to campus in times of emergency and/or closure per PS-18.

  • Due to the position's physical requirements, a pre-employment physical examination will be required per FASOP: HR-04.

Minimum Qualifications:

Two years of experience or training in the installation or maintenance of pneumatic, electrical, or electronic control systems for heating (including boiler), ventilating, or air conditioning systems.

HVAC/Control Technician Master

The Controls Technician Master position at Louisiana State University performs complex and leadworker tasks related to the installation, repair,
calibration, modification, and optimization of various instrumentation and control systems as a member of the Energy Management Group.

Job Duties:

As lead worker, develop workflow strategy and execute the installation, repair, calibration, modification, and optimization of building automation and utility monitoring instrumentation. Instruct and support technicians to execute planned strategy. -30%

Utilize the campus work order system, FAMIS, to respond to issues assigned to the Energy Management Group. -20%

Perform test and balance as required to calibrate, modify and optimize HVAC-R systems. Instruct and support technicians as leadworker in test and balance activities. -20%

Perform functionality tests of HVAC-R systems and its components. Instruct and support technicians as leadworker in planned operational testing activities. -20%

Performs other duties as assigned by the Department including on-call and emergency work when required. - 10%
