Moonvalley is developing cutting-edge generative AI models designed to power Superbowl-worthy commercials and award-winning cinematic experiences. Our inaugural, cutting-edge HD model, Marey, is built on exclusively licensed and owned data for professional use in Hollywood and enterprise applications.
Our team is an unprecedented convergence of talent across industries. Our elite AI scientists from DeepMind, Microsoft, Snap and Meta, have decades of collective experience in machine learning and computational creativity. We have also established the first AI-enabled movie studio in Hollywood, filled with accomplished filmmakers and visionary creative talent. We work with the top producers, actors, and filmmakers in Hollywood as well as creative-driven global brands. So far we’ve raised over $70M from world-class investors including General Catalyst, Bessemer, Khosla Ventures & YCombinator – and we’re just getting started.
Role Summary:
We're looking for an Applied Research Scientist to push the frontier of generative video and image modelling, translating cutting-edge research into production-scale systems that will shape the future of entertainment. We’re seeking a hybrid of researcher and engineer — someone who thrives on exploring new ideas and turning them into real, usable systems.
What You'll Do:
Collaborate with world-class researchers and advisors to prototype and scale novel approaches in generative vision.
Design, train, or repurpose state-of-the-art models for video, image, and multimodal generation tasks.
Lead experiments to evaluate model performance, efficiency, and scalability.
Adapt and optimize research to Moonvalley’s unique products and other needs.
Ship production-ready models through tight iteration cycles including training, fine-tuning, evaluation, and deployment.
Actively contribute to Moonvalley’s research culture — through internal talks, papers, or open-source efforts.
Stay on the bleeding edge of the literature (CVPR, NeurIPS, ICML, ICCV) and help define our roadmap from it.
What We’re Looking For:
MS or PhD in Computer Vision, Machine Learning, or a related field.
Strong research background in generative models, video, or image synthesis (e.g. publications in CVPR, ICCV, NeurIPS, ICML).
Deep experience with PyTorch or Jax or TensorFlow.
5+ years of Python programming experience.
Solid understanding of neural architectures or paradigms (CNNs, Transformers, diffusion models, autoregressive models etc.).
Comfortable iterating rapidly and shipping in production environments.
Comfortable with a remote work and across different time zones.
Familiarity with experiment tracking tools and model lifecycle best practices.
Familiarity with the open source tools and models.
Nice-to-Haves:
Experience scaling training workflows in cloud environments (preferably AWS).
Contributions to open-source projects or academic codebases.
Familiarity with multimodal models or 3D vision.
Comfort working across the research-engineering boundary in a fast-paced startup
In our team, we approach our work with the dedication similar to Olympic athletes. Anticipate occasional late nights and weekends dedicated to our mission. We understand this level of commitment may not suit everyone, and we openly communicate this expectation.
If you're motivated by deeply technical problems, a seemingly never-ending uphill battle and the opportunity to build (and own) a generational technology company, we can give you what you're looking for.
All business roles at Moonvalley are hybrid positions by default, with some fully remote depending on the job scope. We meet a few times every year, usually in London, UK or North America (LA, Toronto) as a company.
If you're excited about the opportunity to work on cutting-edge AI technology and help shape the future of media and entertainment, we encourage you to apply. We look forward to hearing from you!
