Our properties

NeueHouse currently operates across three different, but equally iconic properties in New York City and Los Angeles:

  • Our Madison Square (MSQ) House is situated in New York’s iconic Flatiron District, was previously home for Tepper Galleries, a well-known Manhattan auction house for international artists and collectors in the 1930s – and neighbors the 69th Regiment Armory where the first International Exhibition of Modern Art was held.
  • Our Hollywood House (HWD), which sits on Sunset Boulevard, is one of LA’s most celebrated buildings and occupies the original CBS Studio (the world’s first structure built intentionally for broadcast). Here genre- defining artists from Orson Wells and Lucille Ball to Janis Joplin, the Beach Boys, and Bob Dylan built their legacy.
  • Our Venice Beach House (VB) was once the creative home to some of the most influential creative luminaries in art and entertainment including Hal Ashby, Oliver Stone, and David Hockney, NeueHouse Venice Beach is a new work, social, and cultural hub for the Venice creative community. 

The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Lead Event Cook to oversee and execute high-end catering events with precision and professionalism. This role requires experience in elevated hospitality and fine dining catering, with a strong understanding of allergies, dietary restrictions, and impeccable food presentation.

As the Lead Event Cook, you will take ownership of Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), manage production lists, and assist chefs in both a la carte and in-house catering operations. You will be proactive in ensuring flawless execution, maintaining high culinary standards, and mentoring event cooks.

  • Lead the execution of high-end catering events, ensuring all dishes meet quality and presentation standards.
  • Review banquet event orders (BEOs) daily, making note of any updates or changes.
  • Manage and control production lists, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in preparation.
  • Communicate effectively with the Executive Chef, Sous Chef, and Banquet Captain to coordinate event production and plating.
  • Maintain a strong eye for detail, ensuring food presentation aligns with luxury hospitality standards.
  • Ensure allergy and dietary restriction accommodations are properly executed.
  • Support and assist chefs with a la carte and in-house catering operations.
  • Establish daily priorities, balancing production and preparation tasks among the team.
  • Conduct regular walkthroughs to ensure all workstations are fully stocked, clean, and organized.
  • Monitor and mentor event cooks, ensuring proper execution and adherence to kitchen standards.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation protocols.

We are looking to connect with candidates who bring:

  • Proven experience in high-end catering or luxury hospitality.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage production and mentor team members.
  • Expertise in food preparation, plating, and dietary accommodations.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Strong understanding of kitchen safety, sanitation, and health department regulations.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods.
  • Availability for nights, weekends, and some holidays as required for event execution.

The anticipated salary for this position is $35 per hour. NeueHouse is committed to equitable and competitive compensation and benefits packages for our team members and will consider many factors when extending offers of employment. Some of the factors we consider may include: qualifications of individual applicants against the position and business needs, years of relevant experience in role or industry, specific or unique skills, certifications or professional accreditations specific to the role, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will perform the role. The anticipated range for compensation shared here does not include any other components or benefits that may available.
