Job Summary

We are a venture-backed startup developing next-generation orchestration software for autonomous systems. Our platform enables the complex coordination of multi-domain robotic systems with applications in defense and commercial sectors.

We're seeking a Senior Autonomy Engineer to join our team and lead the development of our core autonomy stack. You'll work at the intersection of robotics, artificial intelligence, and systems engineering to create robust autonomous capabilities for multi-agent systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement core autonomy capabilities including path planning, perception, decision-making, and multi-agent coordination

  • Develop and maintain the autonomy framework that enables seamless integration of different vehicle types and capabilities

  • Create robust behavioral models for autonomous systems operating in complex, dynamic environments

  • Implement and optimize machine learning models for real-time decision making and perception

  • Design and validate autonomous navigation and control systems

  • Collaborate with the platform team to integrate autonomy capabilities with our visualization and control interfaces

  • Work with stakeholders to translate operational requirements into technical solutions

  • Mentor team members and help establish best practices for autonomy development

Required Qualifications

U.S. Person Requirement

This position requires the candidate to be a "U.S. Person" as defined by ITAR (22 CFR §120.15). You must be either:

  • A U.S. citizen

  • A lawful permanent resident (green card holder)

  • A refugee, asylee, or other protected individual under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)

Education and Experience

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Robotics, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field

  • 5+ years of experience developing autonomous systems

Technical Skills

  • Expert-level programming in modern C++ and Python

  • Proven experience with ROS/ROS2 and robotics middleware

  • Establishing technical standards and best practices

  • Strong background in:

    • Control systems and path planning

    • Real-time embedded systems

    • Machine learning frameworks

    • Computer vision and perception

    • State estimation and sensor fusion

    • Version control (Git) and CI/CD practices

    • System integration and testing

Domain Expertise

  • Autonomous systems architecture

  • Multi-agent coordination and control

  • Motion planning in dynamic environments

  • Real-time decision making

  • Performance optimization for embedded systems

Professional Skills

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities

    • MAVLink protocol

    • JAUS (Joint Architecture for Unmanned Systems)

    • UAS standard STANAG 4586

  • Track record of publications or patents in autonomy-related fields

  • Experience with tactical systems integration

  • Experience building and/or leading a distributed technical team

  • Willingness to obtain a U.S. Security clearance

Salary Range

  • Base salary: $120,000 - $250,000 USD, depending on experience
